From the Palfrey trial transcripts: April 7th, 2008 excerpt

Ed.--This excerpt comes from the opening day of the trial of Deborah Jeane Palfrey. The witness for the government being questioned is Mark Hines, beginning at the bottom of page 12 and ending on the bottom of page 20. Palfrey always contended to me and others on the defense team that she thought the investigation into her began around May/June of 2004 in the Baltimore IRS office, apparently brought to their attention by USPS investigators.

I'm unaware of the entire extent of discovery materials she was given by the prosecution, but basically rang true at the time, and in a way it still does. Except for one thing. The real inquiry into the "DC Madam" began in August, 2001. Until reading the trial transcript, I was completely unaware of this fact, partly because press coverage of the trial was almost non-existent, and what little there was lacked any substance or detail.

Eventually, either I, the government, or someone else will post it online in toto, and the public can finally judge for themselves how fair her trial proceedings were, and all of the roads the government didn't go down.

For example: why couldn't they have gotten her for underreporting her income? A source informs me that this would have been the easiest of charges to prosecute.

Why didn't they do it? I have my suspicions, and it includes Palfrey and the government both lying about how much money she earned, and that she hid a lot of it. My guess is that they're either still investigating to find it, or they've already located most of it. She made a lot more money than anyone's reporting. The text has been broken-up for easier reading. Page breaks are noted. It appears that the investigation into Palfrey actually did originate in Washington D.C. and not in Baltimore, but in Linthicum, Maryland as Palfrey and author Bill Keisling once contended...

... "DIRECT EXAMINATION

22 BY MS. BUTLER [Ed.--Nice typo, Butler is a "Mr."]:

23 Q Good afternoon.

24 A Good afternoon.

25 Q State your full name and spell your last name, please. [Page Break]

13

1 A My name is Mark Hines. Last name is spelled H-i-n-e-s.

2 Q Mr. Hines, where do you work?

3 A I'm employed as a Assistant Special Agent in Charge with
4 the Postal Service Office of Inspector General.

5 Q And just briefly, what does the Inspector General's
6 office do?

7 A The Postal Service AIG is the internal law enforcement
8 arm of the postal service, and we investigate fraud, waste,
9 and abuse within the postal system and also employment conduct
10 issues.

11 Q And how long have you been with that office?

12 A I started work with them in 2005.

13 Q Okay. Where were you before that?

14 A Prior to that I was employed as a U.S. Postal Inspector
15 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

16 Q Okay. And how long were you there?

17 A I was there from 2003 to 2005.

18 Q Okay. And before that, where were you?

19 A I was employed as a postal inspector in the Washington
20 Division, the Washington Metro area.

21 Q And how long were you there?

22 A I was employed as a postal inspector in Washington
23 between 1994 and 2003.

24 Q Okay. And just briefly, describe what the Postal
25 Inspection Service does. [Page Break]

14

1 A Postal Inspection Service is the external law enforcement
2 branch of the postal service. They investigate violations of
3 postal law and external attacks on the postal system.
4 Examples of that would be robbery of a post-office,
5 a burglary of a post-office, dangerous mailings or illicit
6 mailings going through the postal system and mail fraud.

7 Q Okay. In about 2000, what was your assignment within the
8 Postal Inspection Service at that time?

9 A In 2000, I was assigned to the Prohibited Mailings Team.
10 That was a team that investigated illicit items and contraband
11 being mailed through the postal system.

12 Q Okay. And was there a specific place or location where
13 you were -- primarily would do that?

14 A Yes, sir. I was assigned -- my last duty station was the
15 incoming mail facility at BWI Airport.

16 Q Baltimore/Washington International Airport?

17 A Yes, sir.

18 Q Okay. And what was your -- what was your assignment at
19 that time? What was your job description?

20 A It had two functions. One function was to profile
21 express mail system for illicit mailings containing
22 contraband; that would be narcotics and also illicit funds.

23 Q Okay. And you said two functions.

24 A Yes, sir.

25 Q What's the second function? [Page Break]

15

1 A The other function was to investigate violations
2 involving postal money orders.

3 Q Okay. Now, let's sort of make sure everyone's operating
4 from the same place in terms of knowledge. Express mail, what
5 is that, just briefly?

6 A Express mail is the service provided by the U.S. Postal
7 Service, an overnight delivery service. You can go to the
8 counter at a post-office, pay a larger fee than you would
9 normally, to mail a first-class envelope, and then that item
10 has a control number assigned to it and it's delivered in a --
11 in an expedited fashion, overnight typically.
12 The other aspect of express mail is that you can
13 track its process through the postal system by the use of that
14 assigned control number.

15 Q And you mentioned money orders. What -- just, again,
16 just briefly, what is a money order?

17 A Postal service money order is a financial instrument
18 that's available to postal customers. You can go into a
19 post-office and with currency purchase a negotiable instrument
20 similar to a check or a money order you might get at a
21 7-Eleven or another outlet.
22 In turn, that document, you can convey to somebody
23 else and it can be cashed at a post-office or it can be
24 deposited like a check at a bank.

25 Q And a money order, does it show who purchased the money [Page Break]

16

1 order on the face of the document?

2 A There is a portion on the face of the document for the
3 person remitting it to write the purchaser of the money order
4 and the sender of the money order, although it's not always
5 completed.

6 Q Okay. And in your assignment at BWI, what were you
7 looking for in terms of express mail labeling and in terms of
8 money orders?

9 A During the course of my assignment, we would look for
10 patterns of suspicious mailing activity; we would look at that
11 through the paperwork which would be the express mail labels
12 from these postal mailings. We would also look at live mail
13 that would go out to the postal service facility, the
14 processed incoming express mail for the D.C. Metro area and
15 also outbound express mail coming from the D.C. Metro area,
16 again, for suspicious mailings.

17 Q What were you looking for? What, in particular, were you
18 looking for? What were you trying to find?

19 A In particular, what we were looking for was in the
20 mornings, we were looking for inbound mailings that typically
21 contained drugs, illegal controlled substances, and then in
22 the evening, at the outbound mail, outbound express mail, we
23 were looking for illicit funds, currency, and also postal
24 money orders and other negotiable instruments.

25 Q And did there come a time when you focused on a business [Page Break]

17

1 called Pamela Martin & Associates?

2 A We did, yes, sir.

3 Q And how did that come about?

4 A In August of 2001 [Ed--My emphasis.], I had been profiling for outbound
5 express mailings and came across an express mail piece going
6 to Venetia, California, which had also come to my attention
7 during our review of Postal Service Express Mail labels.

8 Q Okay. And based on that, what did you do?

9 A With that particular piece, I tried to investigate what I
10 could about the sender, the recipient, and the goal was to
11 obtain a federal search warrant to open the mail piece and
12 determine whether contraband, in other words, illicit funds
13 were within that mail piece.

14 Q Did you have sufficient information at that time to
15 obtain a warrant for that piece of information?

16 A I had sufficient information to seek one.

17 Q Okay. Did you actually obtain one, though, at that time?

18 A I did not.

19 Q Okay. So what did you do with that package then?

20 A The package was returned to the mail stream for delivery.

21 Q And did you follow up on that at all?

22 A I did. That mail piece and the information that I found
23 out, which I attempted to get a search warrant on the basis
24 of, developed further through a longer term investigation and
25 became the first mail piece of a series of suspicious [Page Break]

18

1 mailings.

2 Q Okay. And did you look at patterns or other -- you say
3 other mailings. What did you do to look at other mailings
4 that were going to that post-office box? What did you do?

5 A There were a couple of initial investigative steps. We
6 reviewed the mailing history for express mailings going to
7 this particular address in Venetia, which was P.O. Box 1211 in
8 Venetia, 94510 is the ZIP code, Venetia, California.
9 Over an extended period of time, we developed about
10 247 mailings emanating from the Washington Metro area going to
11 this P.O. box.
12 We also did a mail cover tracking to --

13 Q Describe -- before you go too far, what is a mail cover?

14 A Mail cover is an investigative tool available to law
15 enforcement where law enforcement is authorized to review
16 incoming mail, the face of incoming mail going to a given
17 delivery address based on a criminal investigation. So, for a
18 period of 30 days or 60 days, we can review who is sending
19 mail to a given subject of an investigation.

20 Q And as part of that, what information did you develop
21 through that mail cover?

22 A What it developed was that the box holder of P.O. Box
23 1211 in Venetia was a Deborah Jeane Palfrey and that this
24 individual was associated with an out-call escort service
25 named Pamela Martin & Associates. [Page Break]

19

1 Mail directed to that P.O. box came in the name of
2 Deborah Jeane Palfrey, Pamela Martin, Pamela Martin &
3 Associates and combinations thereof. The mail cover that we
4 did illustrated a quantity of express mailings similar to the
5 ones that we had already tracked through our historical
6 documents, and those documents and the mail cover results
7 indicated that about 25 female senders were mailing express
8 mails and the grand total was 247 of them to this P.O. box in
9 Venetia.

10 Q And for what period of time are you talking about?

11 A The records that I reviewed were between the year 2000
12 and 2002.

13 Q Okay. And did you take steps in the local area to
14 determine if you could identify the women who were sending
15 those documents to Venetia, California?

16 A Yes, I did.

17 Q What steps did you take?

18 A We used address checks checking through the postal system
19 to see who receives mail at a given address; in this case, the
20 return address on the mailings. We have also used Department
21 of Motor Vehicle checks and Auto Track, which is a
22 commercially available address check system to try to identify
23 the mailers such as they appeared on the return address
24 portion of these express mails.

25 Q Okay. Were you able to identify any individuals who were [Page Break]

20

1 actually sending documents to Venetia, California?

2 A Yeah, approximately 25 of them.

3 Q Okay. And did you identify specifically by name any
4 individuals? Without giving their names, were you able to --
5 not just get the names of the persons but to identify -- to
6 figure out who they were, where they lived, that type of
7 thing?

8 A Yes, we were able to figure out many aspects of their
9 background.

10 Q Okay. And did you take steps at the post-offices
11 themselves to see if you could track those individuals'
12 actions relative to sending those express mail packages?

13 A Yeah. During the course of the investigation, I dealt
14 with many different postal employees, from window clerks who
15 sold the express mail service, to delivery employees who
16 delivered the express mailing in California and other
17 locations, and those individuals did provide me with
18 information.

19 Q And did you also take steps on the California end of
20 things to see if you could identify further who Deborah
21 Palfrey was and that type of thing?

22 A Yes, I did. The steps on the California end were to
23 determine whether or not, first of all, Ms. Palfrey held this
24 P.O. box, and in review of our postal records is each P.O. box
25 is a P.O. box application, a Form 1093." ...

Whore-monger Republican Senator David Vitter gets some future employers to pick-up the tab on his DC Madam legal expeses

Washington D.C.--Is it surprising? Vitter's legal defense fund released their report around the same time that the Tarpon Springs PD released their own that confirmed the obvious: Deborah Jeane Palfrey killed herself, she committed suicide by hanging.

Scholars say that Halloween was viewed by the ancient Celts as a time when people could commune with spirits and the dead, a time of divination and magic. There's something sadly poetic and disturbing about the parallel release of these two reports. What would Senator Vitter have said to the dead Jeane Palfrey had he the chance? Perhaps a visit to her graveside to apologize would be in order. Would he even want to? Doubtful, but who cares what he wants?

Vitter's behavior begs-the-question of what kind of hopelessly-flawed deity created this rock we live on, and the rest of the universe. Surely, it wasn't God, he's supposed to be perfect. I don't think people like Vitter or these donors really believe there is a "God"--if they really did, they wouldn't behave as they do. They feel that they are God. They aren't.

No, it must have been an emanation, an effluvium of deity that created our prison called earth, an excretion, something evil and degenerate. Or, there's no God at all, life on earth is just an accident from the big bang, and it's an existential universe where we're on our own. Does it really matter either way?

These "donors" ("graft-peddlers" sound more accurate) bent the rules to the breaking-point--with 27 donors, a curious percentage (seven-in-all) of them had the last name of "Chouest," all addressed to the same P.O. Box in Galliano, Louisiana. But why not? We can assume that at least one of the donors in the entire list was paying the bill at some juncture so that David Vitter could work out his problems with "getcha little somethin' that you can't get at home."

What's so pathetic about Vitter and the donors is that we all know this is only about money and that they'd give him this kind of aid and assistance if he was guilty of murder. Capitalism? Hardly. It's the anarchy of power, the belief in nothing...except more power and the maintaining of it. That puts its origins squarely in the natural world, a part of our animal-side. It doesn't matter, it really is as "natural" as a flower or a tree. Yet the hypocrisy is glaring here, and a woman is dead.

But at least Davey got laid, proved he was a "real man," a mensch, but really came-off as a total schmuck and a loser to anyone with a clue and a pulse. Does it matter whether he was a Senator at the time? No, because he misled the people of Louisiana as to what kind of person he was to get elected. He lied, and lied, and lied, and lied, and he's still lying and will continue to lie. What was it all about? The power that a woman can have over a powerful man in the kind of arrangement Palfrey and Vitter were in.

It most certainly was a witch-hunt, but rest assured that he's never going to be a presidential candidate and that his political career has been permanently damaged from his problem controlling his sex drive. In all, these corrupt Louisiana businesspeople and political figures raised $200,010.00 for a corrupt, whore-mongering politician. A wolf knows a wolf, and a whore knows a whore (and a pimp).

Forget about what I wrote about "hypocrisy," there's none to be had here.

But I have to thank Senator Vitter, the donors, and the entire GOP--it's people like you--at least--who remind me that I'll never run out of assholes to kick around. Thank you. With the job they and many other rich clowns have done on the economy, I'll hardly be the only one doing the kicking, and there isn't going to be anywhere left to run. And c'mon Louisiana, I know you have the self-respect to rid yourselves of this turkey, so quit waiting for someone else to do it, grow a pair. You too Wendy. I don't have to tell Vitter's daughters to dog him about all of this, that's always going to be underneath the surface anyway for the rest of his worthless life.

Was it all worth it, defending Palfrey? Yes. I rest well at night knowing that I helped cost Vitter and several rich turds a lot of money during an economic crisis, and that we tried to take down corrupt representatives like Vitter who protected what can only be the most criminal presidential administration in American history (just wait). Gloating? No. It was the right thing to do, pointing-out Vitter's unethical behaviors along with the rest of the internet. These dopes are your representatives, your mirror-image, your shadow on the walls of the cave.

Surprised the GOP was routed in the last two elections? You shouldn't be, they earned it and couldn't steal an election during a landslide. God knows they tried, and they will again. Vitter's time is coming, this mark on his life is his doing, and it's never going away. Eventually, even the GOP will discard him when he's no longer useful. That could be sooner rather than later.

Washington D.C./San Francisco--The number above is the office of California Rep. Nancy Pelosi. Give her hell, just none of that "socialist" shit, OK? No no silly, she's not in Palfrey's phone records, she only serviced males in Congress, heh-heh.

No, really, San Franciscans: tell her she needs to debate her opponents in the race for her congressional seat, that she's done a poor job in general and that you want her out. Now. Next month. She can tidy-up before she leaves, but out. O-u-t. Gone. Game over man, we're not letting her be in-charge anymore. Oh yeah, and let this be the last few months that this is her phone number. Time for retirement old lady.

The Interior Dept. Sex-for-Contracts Scandal: Standard Operating Procedure?

Denver,Colorado/Washington D.C.--From where I'm standing, especially looking at some of my own research into the subpoenaed Verizon records from the Palfrey defense, I'd say yes. The morons involved in this scandal handle the royalites--in-the-billions--of drilling and mining operations on public lands. That means our lands, the public's.
The alleged transgressions involve 13 former and current Interior Department employees in Denver and Washington. Their alleged improprieties include rigging contracts, working part-time as private oil consultants, and having sexual relationships with - and accepting golf and ski trips and dinners from - oil company employees, according to three reports released Wednesday by the Interior Department's inspector general. ("Sex, drugs, and oil," AP, 09.10.2008)
It only went on for several years, and the investigation only took two years after the Interior Dept. employee called it in. Oh yeah, and the GOP-controlled Justice Department refuses to prosecute some of the players.

It seems this is what the GOP means when they obsess over "drilling." Who said it had to be exclusively "offshore" anyway? The names of everyone involved should be published on billboards everywhere, and the next administration should prosecute every single one of them. Why not? The Justice Department did it to every woman they could rook in from the DC Madam's escort service.

Nobody cared about their dignity--it should be significantly less-so with these betrayers of the public's trust...or is it tryst? Considering that these individuals were soliciting sex-for-contracts, why no RICO charges as with Ms. Palfrey? I think we all know the reasons why, writ large in the coverage. The IAG's report cites 28 year (when Ronald Reagan and his Interior Secretary James Watt oozed into office) veteran and head of the Denver MMS (Mineral Management Service) office, one Gregory W. Smith as a major offender, having sex with subordinates, and the one the Justice Department refuses to prosecute. Why? Perhaps because if he started blabbing, we'd start hearing tales of bipartisan corruption surrounding the activities of his office. Don't expect a serious investigation.

Of course, if John McCain wins, nothing will happen (same with Obama). Small wonder the terrorists "hate us for our freedom"--if it means this, I hate us for our freedom too. Are they guilty? My opinion is a qualified "yes," but that's more based on what's already happened under this administration and Congress already.

Give them all fair trials, but I would imagine the smoking guns are everywhere, which is why a number of them quit so as to avoid prosecution. Luckily, someone in the Justice Department has their back in some cases. Shame, and you can't put lipstick on Mark Foley, it's just too creepy. Yeah, we killed-off and marginalized the Native Americans for this. What we get afterwards will be well-earned if we allow it to continue.

FEC: GOP Sen. David Vitter must pay legal expenses incurred in DC Madam proceedings

Washington D.C.--The Federal Election Commission's (FEC) board has released their ruling today that Louisiana Senator David Vitter cannot use campaign funds for his legal expenses surrounding his role in the proceedings of the late DC Madam, Deborah Jeane Palfrey.

However, he can use $31,000 of them to pay for legal costs he incurred in the Senate Ethics Committee probe into his misbehaviors when he was not a member of the Senate.

Yes, the logic is a little odd, but the decision is fair overall, a very balanced one in an era of almost no oversight of elected officials (mainly Republican ones):

The FEC has ruled in its draft opinion that Vitter cannot use campaign funds to pay $85,000 in fees for work related to quashing the subpoenas.

“Sen. Vitter’s need for legal representation to quash Ms. Palfrey’s subpoenas stemmed from his role as a potential witness in Ms. Palfrey’s trial and was not related to information known to or acquired by Sen. Vitter during the course of his candidacy or in the performance of his duties as a U.S. Senator,” stated the FEC.

The FEC’s draft opinion also denied Vitter’s request to use campaign funds for $75,000 in legal fees for monitoring Palfrey’s criminal proceedings.

“Subpoena Counsel would have monitored the Palfrey criminal proceeding irrespective of Sen. Vitter’s campaign or duties as a U.S. Senator,” the FEC wrote. “Thus, the use of campaign funds to pay for the legal fees and expenses incurred when Subpoena Counsel monitored the Palfrey criminal proceedings would be an impermissible personal use.” ("Vitter cannot use campaign funds to pay for legal fees," The Hill, 08.20.2008)

And there you have it. It had nothing to do with his campaigning, something Vitter and his counsel knew, but fought and lost against. It appears the price of everything has gone higher than any of us would have imagined.

J-7 wishes to congratulate Senator Vitter on being a prime example of gross irresponsibility outside of the White House, and a typical Republican officeholder. That's about to end.

Soon-to-be ex-wife Wendy and Vitter's daughters are likely to keep digging at one of the most pathetic examples of patriarchy America has to offer...if they still talk to him anymore. Mrs. Vitter is a former prosecutor, which is going to make her ire that much more painful to dumbo, and great for laughs and lashings of the ultraviolent.

It says it all that The Hill was the first to jump on this, since the GOP is that most partisan of political agents. Thanks Mr. Moldea, at least you got this one right. The public gets to comment tomorrow, so send your love--be formal and polite--to the FEC offering your solid support of a fair decision.

Vitter was in Palfrey's phone records, she was convicted of soliciting prostitution, and therefore, he also solicited prostitutes. That's against the law, and not about sinning, regardless of the ending of the statute of limitations. Senator Vitter is a lawbreaker and a black liar.

Geraldo/Fox News prompts another DC Madam story (tonight)

Mr. Welch: ...And if I did, I beg your pardon. Let us not assassinate this lad further, Senator.

Senator McCarthy: Let's, let's --

Mr. Welch: You've done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?

Senator McCarthy: I know this hurts you, Mr. Welch.

Mr. Welch: I'll say it hurts!

Senator McCarthy: Mr. Chairman, as point of personal privilege, I'd like to finish this.

Mr. Welch: Senator, I think it hurts you, too, sir. ...

--From the HUAC Army hearings, June 9th, 1954.

Fox News
--They did this several months back before Palfrey's trial. Tonight, Alex Jones was going to try peddling his cock-and-bull theory that Jeane was murdered again, but it got shelved and Geraldo gave no reasons.

Geraldo verbally expressed the crux of what would have been the Jones appearance: Palfrey had voiced concerns that she might be murdered and that it would be made to look like a suicide. It's nothing new as a claim, and there appears to be no indication of anything new.

Peruse the internet's search engines, and there's nothing breaking, just the Blanche Palfrey lawsuit to keep her daughter's death photos suppressed. Who can blame her? The Tarpon Springs Police haven't released any new information on their investigation into the death today either, though they have previously announced that the end of the investigation into the death will be within "days." No new evidence.

Since when has no new evidence has never stopped Alex Jones from smelling the money? He's hardly alone, Fox and Geraldo smelled it tonight too. Why did they get cold feet? My own theory is that they killed it because there was no new information whatsoever...kind of like every story tonight on Geraldo's "Crime Time" segment. It was a lousy show, thank your gods you didn't have to sit through it...

We saw the Enquirer reporter who caught John Edwards with his mistress in a Beverley Hills hotel show us how he "ambushed" the former presidential candidate and senator--possibly with his mistresses' child! It was as underwhelming as "Al Capone's Vault," but that's Geraldo!

We saw to two smokin' hotties--a judge and a former D.A.--voice their opinions on John Edwards' tryst, a lot of speculation over whether he made "hush" payments, and a lot of other drivel in-between the dozen technical errors that plagued the entire show. We saw a lot of bullshit, and no Palfrey segment, and somehow we knew that they would never show it. We saw a lot of advertisements.

Why would someone want the death photos? I never want to see them. We're hearing claims that they should be examined by "experts," whatever that means. That's what a coroner is for. Oh, right, he's probably part of some kind of "conspiracy," sorry.

We know that at-minimum, Montgomery Blair Sibley and Bill Bastone have requested these photographs. There could be others, but the story that only the Smoking Gun requested the them sounds bogus, or a case of misquoting or misreporting. Whether it's a lag in a posting of the full docket or sloppy journalism, there are a number of individuals who want the Palfrey death photos for publication. Why? It's doubtful any of them care about the truth. Heartwarming, isn't it?

Alex Jones is also likely--likely?--to have requested the photographs. From the Pinellas County Circuit Court's website's docket of Blanche Palfrey vs. The Tarpon Springs Police Department:

08/08/08 CLERK REQUEST FOR COPIES EMAILED ON 8/8/08 N

08/07/08 PLAINTIFF AMENDED EMERGENCY MOTION FOR INJUNCTIVE RELIEF F

08/07/08 PLAINTIFF AMENDED COMPLAINT F

08/05/08 PLAINTIFF CIRCUIT CIVIL FILING FEE PAID $300.00 N

08/05/08 PLAINTIFF CIVIL COVER SHEET F

And so there you have a "Server Jones" on August 5th, which might have been Alex. Jones was probably going to have photos from the crime scene for Geraldo, or was expecting to obtain them or some other flimsy details from the investigation files to support his a priori assumptions that Deborah Jeane Palfrey was murdered. Things fell-through. Maybe he was taken to Syria to be tortured by CIA operatives.

Like Obama accuser Larry Sinclair (time to play 8 degress of Montgomery Blair Sibley), Jones and others have yet to produce even a shred of evidence to support their claim that Palfrey was murdered and that the crime scene was made to look like a suicide had taken place.

Evidence to support this contention has yet to surface. It's not likely that it ever will, but stirring-up speculation should help Jones sell some more merchandise on his websites. Snake oil, pure drivel.

Considering clown Alex and some of his misguided fans were thrown-out of Geraldo's show almost a year ago, with Jones and others being arrested, it's not hard to believe he wasn't on tonight. But does Geraldo ever shrink from a fight? Hardly, and I'll give him
that. T-shirts, programs, and mugs will be available after the show. Forget your mind, there's a war for your wallet.

On the John Edwards sinning scandal

A'murka--Is this underwhelming or what? He didn't break-the-law like Sen. David Vitter when he engaged in his serial-solicitation of WHORES, and he didn't violate any security clearances, but the GOP is just itching to get some hits in somewhere, anywhere.

Yet nobody really gives-a-shit with the price of gasoline (our temporary reprieve isn't going to last), a worthless war in the Middle East, the Republic of Georgia being (re)invaded by Russia, and everything else that's actually of importance.

The fact stands: it's nobody's business, but somebody found out and blabbed. He broke no laws, and if he violated anyone's trust that matters (comments to the press and others don't count), it was his wife's. That's where it ends. The rest is utter bullshit.

Would I have ever voted for Edwards as a presidential candidate? Nope. He had problems in his platform and he voted to authorize the Bush administration's use of force in Iraq. That's unforgivable, though his voting record on social spending isn't as bad as most in the Senate. Then, there's the other guy: Obama's just lucky he wasn't in the Senate at the time (2002), that's it. Otherwise, he would have voted likewise and allowed the Bush administration a free-hand. Well, OK, he already has in continually voting for war funding, but that's another story altogether.

John Edwards' tryst: a non-story, I could care less (OK, I lied).

If you can say anything at all with any certainty, it's that filmmaker Rille Hunter got too close to her subject, an "Edwards fetish" if-you-will. It's doubtful that her documentary is worth watching.

I'm not a Democrat, incidentally. Oh sure, I'm registered as one, and I've only voted GOP once in a local election in Muncie, Indiana, but Nader has my vote. The Democratic political machine there was well known for being totally corrupt and their candidate--a former sheriff--had been cold busted embezzling from public funds. The Republican wasn't attached to the establishment there in any respect.

Some asshole told me at the time: "He won't accomplish anything, he doesn't know anybody downtown." And? So they don't accomplish their usual agendas--this is bad because...of what? I will decline to vote for any candidate running for Indiana's 2nd District seat in the House, they all have to go.

The paternity test: it's likely that the child is his. Do I care? Ask the GOP's Dan Burton, he had a love child going back to the 1980s when he issued 1,000 subpoenas against former President Bill Clinton about ten-years-ago. Another Midwestern slimeball named Larry Flynt outed him, thanks-in-part to the maverick investigator, Dan Moldea (he thinks Sirhan Sirhan alone, murdered RFK, a laugh riot).

Somehow, some way (because of money, natch), the very corrupt, stupid, and ugly Burton's still in office. I doubt this is going to hurt John Edwards that much, and he and others need to be pointing-out all the other offenders who are still in (and out of, like Mark Foley) office. And that's exactly what you're reading right now...

Republican New York Rep. "Vito" Fossella's Love Child and His Problems with Drunk Driving

"I have had a relationship with Laura Fay [Ed.-Who he called first when he was in-trouble with the incident.], with whom I have a three-year-old daughter. My personal failings and imperfections have caused enormous pain to the people I love and I am truly sorry. While I understand that there will be many questions, including those about my political future, making any political decisions right now are furthest from my mind. Over the coming weeks and months, I will to continue to do my job and I will work hard to heal the deep wounds I have caused."
--Soon-to-be former NY GOP Rep. Vito Fossella on Thursday. (NYT'S City Beat, 05.08.2008)

New York State
--Where is M.A.D.D. on this one? You have to love it when dozens of Republican incumbents who keep authorizing funding for the war and blocking impeachment end-up like this. It has to be said again-and-again: it's a bad time to be a Republican voter who's a true believer, the cognitive-dissonance must be excruciating.

Like the adulterous Dan Burton who issued former President Bill Clinton over 1,000 subpoenas during his own sex scandal, Fossella is busted. This time, the AP couldn't ignore the fact that he's a GOP incumbent in the coverage. The exposure came from the representative being pulled-over for running a red light, then it was discovered by the police at the scene that he was driving drunk. The rest is now becoming political history:
Fossella's personal life came apart at the seams after police stopped him for running a red light last week and charged him with drunken-driving. The arrest fueled scrutiny which led to revelations of an affair with a former Air Force officer, and a 3-year-old daughter with her. ("New York Rep. Fossella faces calls for his resignation, AP, 05.10.2008)
The article isn't entirely clear on what caused the chain-reaction of exposure, but who cares? Fossella said that he was going to see his daughter who was "sick"--he forgot to say which one. It's great for the common good when a Republican--or anyone abusing office--gets caught in wrongdoing. It's possible that the soon-to-be former representative will stay in office until July 1st, simply leaving the seat empty until the November elections cycle. The GOP is likely to lose the seat.

According to a source close to Huffington Post on the Hill, Fossella cried to House Chaplain Daniel P. Coughlin on the floor of the House this week over the debacle he created for himself, his party, his constituents...oh yeah, and his legally recognized family. So much for family values. What's very interesting is where Fossella was pulled-over:
Alexandria, Virginia, stomping-ground for numerous lobbyists, government contractors, and HQ for Christopher D. Baker's Shirlington Limousine. This could be nothing, but...

Alexandria's also where Ret. Col. Ronald Roughead of SAIC lives. Colonel Roughead was found by this site in the phone records of the deceased DC Madam, Deborah Jeane Palfrey. The New York Times states that Fossella is a close ally of Vice President, Richard Cheney, who was named by the DC Madam as a former client to this writer. It's unknown whether she--or Larry Flynt and Dan Moldea--could corroborate this assertion or not. Fossella was arrested the day Palfrey's body was found, hanged, in Tarpon Springs, Florida, a town just outside of Orlando.

The representative from New York City said back on May 3rd that he wasn't resigning, though it's virtually assured at this writing. His decision is expected by Monday. Like mainstream Democrats, Fossella has been a staunch supporter of the Bush administration's failed war in Iraq, as well on sundry other issues. He's definitely not bullish on social programs, just adultery and siring bastards.

The timing couldn't have been better. With the recent death-by-suicide of the DC Madam, and the Senate Ethics Committee refusing to investigate Senator David Vitter, another shoe has dropped. Vitter's home life must be hell, which is appropriate.

Party officials and strategists who would not speak publicly to avoid interceding in the case said the general preference was for Mr. Fossella to not seek re-election in November but to finish his term and avoid yet another special election in potentially difficult political territory. But many said they doubted he could survive politically and that it might be better for him and his colleagues if he quit rather than have his conduct become part of the campaign.

Representative John A. Boehner of Ohio, the Republican leader, said Mr. Fossella had to make his own choice. “I think Mr. Fossella is going to have some decisions to make over the weekend,” Mr. Boehner told reporters. “And I would hope that and, frankly, expect that this is a decision between he, his family and his constituents.” ("Fossella Admits to Extramarital Affair," AP, 05.08.2008)

Even with the nearly week-long delay in the exposure of Fossella and his mistress--former Air Force Lt. Colonel Laura Fay--the damage to the GOP is going to be compounded. This will virtually ensure Fossella to opt for resignation, a belated ending to a political career that began in 1997, back when Americans could still afford gasoline and milk. Score another victory for the common good.

What's troubling is that Fossella's adulterous behavior is getting more attention when he should be taking the greatest heat for breaking-the-law for driving drunk, and possibly lying to uniformed Alexandria Police. A commenter at The New York Times "City Room" put it best regarding the Republicans and what they really are:

178.

  • “Here we go again–just one more case that reveals the hypocrisy in the self-righteous Republicans’ supposed monopoly on “family values!!”

    — Posted by Kathy ”
It’s all rather simple. The republicans in reality represent the interest of the “business class” and the wealthy and the fact that there are not enough of those groups to get them in office they use the social issues to get people to vote against their own interest. :)

    — Posted by Jon ("Fossella Admits to an Extramarital Affair," NYT's City Room, 05.08.2008 )

I couldn't have stated it better myself. Here then, is the true face of the GOP, and where she's been for several generations. This isn't the party of Lincoln. What are they going to do with a more "enlightened" America? The race-baiting isn't working anymore, and there's nary-a-Red to bait. Terrorism isn't bringing the dividends it used to. The same goes with gay marriage and abortion. Nobody cares. It's time to put the GOP out of our misery, splintering them into legitimate, law-abiding parties. There's no reason to stop there--the Democratic Party is in great need of the same.

A question keeps nagging this writer: How exactly did the congressman and the Lt. Colonel meet? Was she moonlighting as a prostitute, like in the case of Lt. Commander Rebecca Dickinson who worked for the DC Madam? Or is she like Tammy McFadden, a former Air Force nursing student who serviced Brent Wilkes at a sleepover in Hawaii with convicted former GOP Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham? Some have even said that Democratic congressman Daniel Inouye was part of their visit. Perhaps "prostitute" is just a matter of semantics in political marriages...

DC Madam Deborah Jeane Palfrey found guilty by federal jury

Washington D.C.
--It's over...or is it? Is this story ever over? It certainly hasn't been for me since early-June of last year. There will, of course, be an appeals process, but will it lead anywhere? That's unlikely. For the record, I was employed for the defense in December of 2007 to do specific research. An interesting fact is that I was finally paid by the federal defender's office the day the trial began, on April 7th.

The likelihood is that the prosecution didn't want any openings for a claim of an unfair trial and that proper resources weren't allocated to the defendant.

The research was factual not legal. This is why I generally stopped writing on the story. To do so would have been a conflict of interest. I know this doesn't bother many in Washington, the press, or in corporate boardrooms, but it bothers me. And the "Johns"? They get their free-pass as usual. Guilty? It's a matter of degree. There were other players here, and most of them never had to testify, because that's how Washington works (or doesn't, depending on your viewpoint).

It's my hope that the defendant releases myself and others to disseminate the raw-materials we may have uncovered. It's also hoped she can provide further context for these materials. The heat's off for the politicians and defense contractors for now, but a window was opened here. Now that the defense on the technicalities surrounding money laundering, racketeering, and prostitution charges have all failed, it's possible that there's more-to-come. She pulled-her-punches for a defense strategy that wasn't going to go anywhere; that's the cold, hard truth. It's up to her now, unless most of this has been a bluff. But has it?

I don't think that's the case: we've seen very real damage inflicted on the Bush administration and her appointees. There has been a political body count, a record that Congress should envy. We saw the downing of now former USAID director Randall Tobias at the State Department, and much needed pressure applied on Senator David Vitter for his illegal solicitation of prostitutes in multiple-locations.

We've seen people like Harlan Ullman--the military strategist who devised the "shock and awe" strategy used in the invasion of Iraq--dragged into the spotlight, and quite a few others. For many of them, this story is never going to end, and it never should. It should dog them for the rest of their lives. The fact that many of their former phone numbers are now in the public record is a victory. Did I always think she was guilty? That's not exactly the right question.

Does the verdict prove Palfrey's guilt? Ask me some time. What I believe to be certain is this: the prosecution and the defendant did their best to drag the process out for different reasons. Deborah Jeane Palfrey was found guilty by a federal jury on tax day. This had to end months before the 2008 elections, but also had to continue long enough to limit any potential damage to the White House and the GOP in a general sense. Tax day. It all makes a certain sense.

Riding the Privatization Wave: SAIC Scores Another Navy Contract

McLean,Virginia
/San Diego, California/Norfolk,Virginia/Washington D.C.
--J-7 doesn't contend that brother Ron and brother Gary Roughead had anything whatsoever to do with this contract:

Government contractor SAIC Inc. said Thursday it received a contract, worth more than $473 million if all options are exercised, to provide engineering and support services to the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center in San Diego. The support includes command, control, communications, computers and intelligence programs for sea, land, air and foreign military sales, the company said. (AP, 08.16.2007)
Nothing here, move along. Nothing to do with Duke Cunningham or any related or similar activities here. You think SAIC services Saudi Arabia on anything? Sorry, you can't ask those questions. Keep your opinions and analysis to yourselves, leave it to the experts and professionalized journalists, they know best. They know what's proper and good for all of us.

And brother Ron's call to Pamela Martin & Associates in 2005--that had nothing to do with any defense contracts whatsoever, there's no possibility whatsoever that it resembles Cunningham's and Brent Wilkes's procurement of prostitutes for CIA contracts (spanning the years 2002-2005) in DC. No, let's just focus on the politicians while these folks get to hide in the shadows.
And there's no connection that Wilkes worked out of San Diego, where SAIC's headquarters is, not even tangential. The press isn't ignoring these potential connections either, and are doing a fine job pulling it all together (snicker). We should know any day now, rather than decades later when it doesn't matter anymore. We can also rest assured that there were several other bidders in the contract that SAIC won (move along). And no, if you do a google search of "Brent Wilkes SAIC," you won't find any pertinent articles at all, none. And Duane P. Andrews probably doesn't figure into all of this either, nor his connections to Dick Cheney.

Also, Kyle Dustin "Dusty" Foggo (former San Diego cop, now CIA spook and defendant) is not a procurer of prostitutes any more than Ed Norris (former convicted Baltimore Police Commissioner). And as we all know, SAIC never uses minorities in San Diego to sign-on as subcontractors to more easily procure a contract, not ever. It's a good thing the FBI pacified those folks in San Diego back in the late-1960s, early-70s (when SAIC was being founded), so they could exploit them to procure those coveted defense and intelligence contracts on-the-sly through loopholes. Thank you J. Edgar Hoover, thank you so very much.

540-459-9215: Mark Capansky (Former Intern for GOP Rep. Bob Goodlatte)

Woodstock, Virginia
--"Who's Mark Capansky?" you might be asking yourself right now. This one's "old," I found the listing in the "Sprint, January 22 2005-December 22 2005" file, page-17. He interned for congressman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.)--that is, based on whether the client of Pamela Martin & Associates was the father or the son. They both have the same name, minus any appellation such as "Jr." or "Sr." (or even "II" or "III").

DATE: January 27, 2005 CONTACT: KATHRYN REXRODE

CONGRESSMAN GOODLATTE ANNOUNCES ACADEMY NOMINATIONS
Washington, DC: Congressman Bob Goodlatte announced today that the following students have received nominations to military academies for the class entering the fall of 2005.
Mark Capansky, son of Mark and Polly Capansky, is currently a freshman at Carnegie Mellon University and a resident of Woodstock. He has been nominated to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis.

Wesley Stout, son of Benny and Gloria Stout, is currently a senior at Stonewall Jackson High School and a resident of Mt. Jackson. He has been nominated to the United States Military Academy at West Point.

“I am greatly honored to nominate these fine young students to compete for appointment to the United States Services Academies. Upon appointment, they will be attending outstanding schools and joining the world’s finest fighting force. I am confident they will serve our country with distinction. Folks in Shenandoah County can be proud of these hard working young men,” said Goodlatte. (house.gov/goodlatte, 01.27.2005)
It appears the son has been playing football off-and-on at Carnegie Mellon, and has been chosen by Goodlatte with another intern to attend the Naval Academy at Annapolis, and West Point, respectively. What did Mark Capansky do to earn this? The other intern is a High School student, but a football player is usually thought of as a "ladies man" in our culture--not a geeky High Schooler.

Perhaps they're both just very good at their jobs as
interns. On the other hand, one of them was calling Pamela Martin & Associates in September of that year, and it wasn't the kid. Are there earlier-entries for 540-459-9215? It should be looked-into. Note that J-7 isn't the first to "out" Capansky, however, it was TRex at http://www.firedoglake.com/ on July 9th in a comments-thread.

A major question is: which Mark Capansky is it? The call originates from Woodstock, Virginia, the family home. Mark Jr. is a humanities scholar at Carnegie Mellon, and is listed in the Class of 2008. Again, Capansky Jr. was an intern with Goodlatte at least before-and-during 2005. It's unclear when and if his time there has ended, though it's likely his internship ended somt time during 2005.

The call from Pamela Martin & Associates occurs on September 1st, 2005, at 8:02 pm, and lasts four minutes. It doesn't appear that Capansky was interning for Goodlatte when this call was made, but you never know
:
Congressman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA06) has openings for unpaid interns for fall 2005 in his Washington, DC office. Duties include answering telephones, processing mail, guiding Capitol tours, greeting visitors, assisting staff with various projects, and attending hearings. Must be motivated, detail- oriented, and be able to multi-task. This is a great opportunity for college students and graduates seeking Hill experience. Virginia ties preferred, but not necessary. Applicant must be available for a minimum of 8 weeks. Please fax cover letters and resumes (202) 225-9681. If you have any questions, please contact Nathan Pick at (202) 225-5431.
And so, why would Mark Capansky Jr. (if he's the one who made the call) be at home from Pittsburgh (Carnegie Mellon) on September 1st, 2005--a Thursday (school night)? [Ed., 07.18.2007-probably a Labor Day break, but Carnegie Mellon's schedule for 2005 only lists Monday, Sept. 5th, 2005 with "no classes"]

J-7 figures that the time is really after midnight in Woodstock, Virginia, so it could have originally been been dialed surreptitiously by someone in the home--with the callback being the record--that night in the initial-contact. It's impossible to know what any of this means at this point, but there is a connection here with a Republican representative's office. What that connection is remains to be seen. Go to Croatan.
