Why the problems in Uganda? The Congo?

Oil. Both the DRC (The Democratic Republic of Congo) and Uganda (Idi Amin's former stomping ground) are fighting over Lake Alberta's Rukwanzi island, a region where Ireland's Tullow Oil has been doing geological surveys early this year that have discovered between 400 million-to-1 billion barrels of oil, one of those fossil-based substances that we're supposed to be putting behind us to end global warming. Ho hum, there's money at stake, so no dice, the planet stays imperiled so someone can make more money than God. Note the proximity of the Sudan.

The DRC and Uganda have recently stopped their resource/tribal war that raged over most of the last decade and their militaries are now cooperating thanks to...money. The Ugandan military are now stationed in parts of the Eastern Congo fighting against militias there who want autonomy and probably their own piece of the action. In sum, Tullow is just making matters worse and future conflict is all-but-inevitable, like Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer's 1874 geological survey into the Black Hills that sparked more Indian wars and rapidly consumed him and many of his own troops.

As I wrote, we know how that ended, he had it coming, and history has a way of repeating itself (rendering reincarnation unnecessary). Once they fought Native Americans and now unaccountable power and their representatives fight and pit Africans against one another over valued resources. Similar dynamics are at play in Nigeria where the U.S. has been constructing AFRICOM for future military adventurism, now training Rwandan troops, but it's all driven by greed rather than actual need, capitalism at its worst.

Yet, Tullow's Business unit manager has recently conceded that Sudan is currently off-limits because of political pressure over human rights abuses. There are limits to power--meaning some have limited power:

Asked if the company would work in countries like the Sudan where oil money is suspected of fuelling the war, he said: "There are certain countries we could not work in because of human rights issues and environmental concerns." (AllAfrica.com, 07.01.2009)

But Tullow is a small, independent firm, not a Chevron or a Shell. Their pull is significantly smaller. However, that doesn't mean that they don't want to meddle or that those other oil firms have any such qualms when the ability to do so is present.

With the ever-shrinking supply of oil and China's and India's ever-increasing demands as the factories of the world, it was time to look elsewhere, although it was known that there were oil-deposits in the region long ago.

"We finally found a location outside the Kabwoya Game Reserve. Another reason for the delay is that we found a lot of oil elsewhere. With the discovery of more oil, we have more options to choose from."

Asked why the oil in Uganda was found so late, he said when it was first discovered by Shell in the 1930s, it was considered not significant.

"They were looking for significant finds such as in Nigeria and Saudi-Arabia. But the world has moved on. Now is the time when oil has become scarce and the prices have gone up. So countries like Uganda come into consideration." (ibid)

Now the world (power) "wants" the remaining oil reserves in these African nations, regardless of the grade. Most of the wars of the 20th century were resource wars. The same is likely to be the case in the 21st century, imperiling the future of the species along with the directly-related effects of global warming.

And now we have the arrest and charges of murder against two Norwegian mercenaries who were in the DRC, ostensibly to set up their own private security firm. Both are former members of the Norwegian military, possibly from an elite unit. Private Military Herald is reporting some very curious facts about the Norwegian duo of Tjostolov Moland and Joshua French:

Evidence seized recently at the apartment the two men shared in Uganda could play a large role n the eventual outcome of the trial. During the police raid authorities found Norwegian military ID cards, counterfeit United Nations hats, employee ID badges with both the correct and false names of the two men. The employee badges are from a heretofore little known security company named Special Interventions Group (SIG) which is owned by and mostly staffed by Norwegians. During the raid on the apartment authorities also confiscated at least one rifle and a camera containing pictures of the two men on their recent travels in Africa. In one grainy image, believed to have been taken by Mr. French, Mr. Moland is seen smiling as he washes the blood believed to be that of Mr. Kasongo from the inside of the hired car. Additionally, Mr. French has been coy about his real identity until recently, allegedly going under the name of "John Hunt," an equally nondescript name. Both men are being charged with murder and it appears the death penalty will be expedited soon. They were apparently scouting the region where the oil is. The Congolese authorities could very well have caught the duo and the Norwegian government (and maybe even forces unknown) red-handed. One thing's certain: Africa is still the frontier of the Wild, Wild West (and China).

Throbbing Gristle's April 25/26th, 2009 Chicago shows

I had the extreme pleasure of seeing both sets of the April 25th show in Chicago this year. There were several Chicago musical "luminaries" there--most incognito--but I recognized a few here-and-there, just as I had at Psychic TV's 2004 Empty Bottle gig where I literally bumped into Genesis P. Orridge on the way out the front door for a smoke.

The Logan Square Auditorium concerts were the first time that TG had ever played the windy city on what was a four city tour (major ones only) of the United States. The last time Gristle played America, that rough beast heading towards Bethlehem was...residing in the White House, but that era's finally coming to a screeching halt as many of us suspected it would. America looks-the-grimier for it, maybe we'll avert ecological catastrophe, maybe not, but besides ourselves, we'll know who to blame: industrialists, and not the kind that play concerts. Logan Square Auditorium is a pretty old room and it was becoming apparent just a few minutes into the set that the structure of the building was never going to be the same, ever again. If you loved extreme music, this was going to be your night, and I spotted people in "Coil," "Can," "Kraftwerk," and even "Popol Vuh" (the last three being "krautrock" groups) t-shirts, something I'm certain to never see again in one place.

You didn't need to be on drugs to feel your consciousness being altered at the show, it was riveting, devastating, and in a way that's beyond rare. From the first set, which was an improvised soundscape to the late Derek Jarman's "In the Shadow of the Sun" (1980) made expressly for the group to score, to the second, comprised of a mix of oldies and new material, it was very much as the accounts of TG had always said they were: they were so powerful that they will change your consciousness forever, a completely immersive and subversive experience all around. Nietzsche said that there were only two Christians: "Jesus and St. Francis." Many have said that there was only one industrial group ever, Throbbing Gristle, and I would be hard-pressed to disagree with them. There's an unmistakable feeling when one bears witness to artistic truth, and like some kind of religious experience, it's irrefutable, and likewise, immutable. The occasion was truly historic, like having the good luck of catching the Velvet Underground.

The speaker columns were possibly some of the tallest I've ever seen and with every air-molecule vibrating violently, and the sensation within the crowd was akin to what it must be like to swim in a pool of jello, you could literally feel your innards moving. Beyond that, there was the sensation of something much bigger than the people creating the music, the sounds, and the people witnessing it, something you cannot put a price tag on, nor something you can sully with money. It was a shared and communal experience.

It won't be exactly the same, but it should give you a pretty good idea of what it was like. TG allowed audience members to come into the Logan Square Auditorium without any searches. Read the quote above, and it will all make sense. Public music is public. You put it out there, or you do not, because once it is out there, it's no longer entirely yours. If money is all an artist is concerned about, it's no longer about the music or connecting with people anymore, it's just more business-as-usual, over-the-counterculture, commodified and dead at your door. GreyMachine - Disconnected (2009) album review

It was in the winter of 1991-92 that I first listened to the music of Justin K. Broadrick, onetime drummer/founder of the legendary Napalm Death, and I've never looked back. The album was the extraordinary "Streetcleaner" (1989), and it was percolating its way through college campuses and neighborhoods across North America, seeping its way into the minds of incredibly angry, nihilistic youth.

Broadrick has had his ups-and-downs over the years with the decline of Godflesh, numerous side-projects, a series of personal crises, but has survived the crash of the conventional music industry and come back with a real vengeance since 2005 and the first release of Jesu on the Hydrahead label, run by the inimitable heavy rock group Isis.

Broadrick is a real gadfly in the music world, crossing genre boundaries and conventions while pushing the envelope and creating new styles and approaches that are rapidly imitated (think the band Korn, a group whose style he doesn't want credit for) poorly, such as the hybridization of hip-hop and intensely heavy rock-stylings. But if there's a thread running through his music, it's the psychedelic, the ponderous, a gazing into the abyss of our common era, and that shines through more brightly in this new project than ever before. If you're a real aficionado of unforgivably heavy rock, layered, dense, and brutal, this is going to be your new fix for a very long time to come. It's projects like this that keep rock--barely living--alive in a microcosmic sense, and that's fine by me.

What's so shocking and exciting about this release, however, is that Broadrick has returned to playing drums once again, and it's been a long-time-coming. Other than possibly some playing on the "Sweet Tooth" project, I don't believe he's played drums on a recording in such a direct way since his time in Napalm Death in the 1980s, so this is a real historic occasion, and he's great on it. Reenlisting Dave Cochrane of God and Head of David was going to be a logical move as was the bass and electronics of the great Diarmuid ("Dermot") Dalton of Cable Regime and Jesu, while the inclusion of Isis guitarist and visual artist Aaron Turner compliments the general wash of sound you'd expect from a Broadrick-fronted project.

Layered doesn't even begin to describe the sound, this is a real feat of music engineering here where noise, heaviness, and the psychedelic create a very satisfying admixture that recalls Ornette Coleman's "harmolodics" theory. "Vultures Descend" is one of the more interesting and exciting tracks, but if I were to pick a favorite, it would have to be the destroying "Sweatshop," a cut that's going to please the most purist of Godflesh fans who've been wondering if Broadrick lost it after 2005. He hasn't, this was well worth the wait. It's strange, but in a way, he's cycled back to his Napalm Death days, the days of the legendary "SCUM" LP (1986), a heavily-layered affair awash in noise, now with the inclusion of discreet electronics, sampling, and few vocals at all. We got a taste of what was to come in 2003's final Techno Animal project, "Curse of the Golden Vampire," a project that was also reminiscent of ND in several areas and a good taste of how close drum and bass sounds to speed metal rhythmically!

Like the very best of JB's output, this album is going to be impossible to define. Every member but one rooks-in electronics, looping, sampling, and even the occasional synthesized sound that creates quite an onslaught. Imagine the layering and looping approach of electric period Miles (think "Bitches Brew") applied to a rock band and you're getting closer; guitars are subsumed by drums; drums are subsumed by the roar of the overall sound, fighting their way to the top; vocals occasionally fight their way up; synths and samples cut their way through the mix, while the bass keeps chugging. If it sounds like war, that's because it is, this, our common era. Disconnected couldn't be more timely or timeless.

Why won't President Obama fire the remaining Bush/Cheney loyalists?

Washington D.C.--This has been perplexing me for months now, but recall that when George W. Bush entered office, one of the very first things he did back in 2001 was to fire virtually all of the 93 standing U.S. Attorneys. What was he thinking? He didn't want anyone who wasn't on the same page or loyal to him--that's not legitimate, incidentally, not in the public interest.

That's why President Obama needs to fire every single standing U.S. Attorney now, but he won't. That speaks volumes about him if it continues much longer, that he's no different than George W. Bush and his administration. But it's possibly worse than that.

But why do mass firings and what's the problem? Very simple: It's becoming obvious--for example--that embedded appointees within the DOJ are working against the new president as well as at the Pentagon and even within the confines of the CIA and throughout the federal bureaucracy, working against him, his party, and the public will. This doesn't appear to concern President Obama.

Is he crazy? Is he nuts? Is he stupid? No.

I think the 2008 revelations about Attorney General Eric Holder and his connections to the Chiquita Brands International Inc. corporation as an attorney representing their interests in a recent civil suit states-it-plainly: the Obama administration is riddled with the same kinds of scumbags from the corporate world and the realm of the political operative, the corporate gutter. Oh yeah, and included many of the very same scumbags that were there in the bureaucracy under Bush II. This is unacceptable and shows so far that the Obama administration has no problem with politicizing law enforcement, a very dangerous road to go down in a democracy. But it's all about money, isn't it? Yes it is.

For years, Chiquita was paying off right wing paramilitaries (AUC, listed as terrorists at the time by our government) not to attack their banana plantations in Colombia during their "dirty war" with Marxist guerrillas, FARC. In the interest of fairness, both sides (the paramilitaries are generally allied with the drug-smuggling oligarchs in the North) sometimes run cocaine to fund their activities. So, Chiquita was breaking the law--did I mention there have been allegations that they were also reported running cocaine in some of their shipments? It appears that they wanted to pad their bottom line, but this is still unconfirmed.

At the time--March 2007--I and most of the nation began noticing the DC Madam scandal and her prosecutor, the moronic U.S. Attorney Jeffrey A. Taylor who'd been unethically appointed through a provision of the Patriot Act as an interim U.S. Attorney by George W. Bush while Congress was out of session, sometime in late September 2006. Just a few months later, Taylor was expediting the plea agreement for Chiquita...and bringing an indictment against Palfrey (no, I'm not drawing a connection here). Jeffrey was very busy during those months, covering-up for a gaggle of corporate bigwigs, Bush II appointees, government contractors, and not just with the DC Madam scandal--he had his work cut-out for him, but he's a rock, a skilled sycophant. Well...not exactly: he's also been known to file under the wrong statutes, but that's another story for another time.

And so, many other names that will be familiar from the Bush II years that never really ended were also involved in the Chiquita settlement; even the DOJ's/DHS's Michael Chertoff, but it was Holder and Taylor who brokered the deal that gave Chiquita a very tiny fine considering that they were paying off terrorists for several years, basically giving them material support. Holder has a lot to explain as their former attorney, and fine, he's going to claim attorney-client privilege so he's going to have to be investigated eventually if it ever even happens.

No criminal holding public office has ever been known to allow the prosecution of themselves, other than Richard Nixon, and he didn't go down quietly. Obama isn't going to fire these standing U.S. Attorneys from the Bush II years soon because he answers to the same bosses, and so does his Attorney General. Why fire the appointees after that? The current president is just another fraud. Power concedes nothing without a demand. Beware these businessmen who come at you with knives: they're you're businessmen.

DLA Piper and Sibel Edmonds' revelations about Dennis Hastert

WWW--It's been several weeks now since the sworn deposition of FBI whistleblower Sibel Edmonds, and she's been doing a lot of talking. About whom, you might ask? About former House Speaker Dennis Hastert, Indiana Rep. Dan Burton (can't control the...you know), an unidentified Democratic Rep. who's been compromised and blackmailed in a lesbian affair to aid the Turkish government, and a whole lot more.

Most of the players are Republicans, but this time we're going to get some Democratic fish in the barrel. In one case--it looks like Burton and a few others involved--nuclear secrets were being sold to Turkey, Pakistan, and a few others that are on terror-lists as "renegade nations." They were also listed by the last president as being part of an "axis of evil." You do the math.

Burton's office and someone representing him has been around, but there have been other players. This exchange from the deposition transcript before Congress is pretty extraordinary and raised some flags for me on DLA Piper's recent visit to the site:

... Q: Now, are you --- has it come to your attention that some members of Congress once they've left Congress like Dennis Hastert engaged in lobbying for the Turkish government?

A: Dennis Hastert is known publicly. Stephen Solarz is known publicly. He used to be a Congressman, and then he became lobbyist as soon as he left both for Israel and Turkey.

Bob Livingston, he within a year after he left Congress, he became lobbyist for the government of Turkey, and he is registered under Foreign Agent's Registration Act. But then there are people who work for these lobbying firms who are not the top, but they have received their share while they were working, whether they are in Pentagon.

One person was Defense Intelligence Agency person, Dana Bauer, and now she works for Bob Livingston, but this individual, Ms. Bauer, did a lot of favors and illegal favors to --- for government of Turkey and others, and then was hired by Livingston and put on a big salary to represent Turkish government.

So it's not only top tier of the lobbying firm, but then the people who work for them later and the various layers of those people.

Q: How about Richard Gephardt? You know, who he is, right?

A: Yes, I do.

Q: And do you have any information about whether or not he took money from Turkish organizations?

A: No, I just have (unintelligible) information based on what I read that he joined the lobby firm for --- that represents Turkey, the lobby that Mr. Hastert got hired, but I don't have any information.

Q: For the firm called DLA Piper?

A: Yes.

Q: Law firm. Are you aware of them lobbying for the Turkish government?

A: Yes.

Q: Let me give you a hypothetical and just get your understanding of what might be going on because it's particularly relevant to our case.

You have a hypothetical Congresswoman from State X. Her district has no Turkish population to speak of or Armenian population to speak of. She's the largest recipient of Turkish PAC money in the 2008 election cycle. All right?

She meets with Livingston and Rogers or Livingston Group when they're escorting members of the Turkish parliament to a reception. She receives fact sheets from the Livingston Group talking about Turkish relations; goes to luncheons in honor of the Turkish Foreign Minister, and she opposes Armenian genocide resolution and, in fact, refuses to even recognize the genocide as a historical fact. ...

Curiouser and curiouser, that. The soon-to-be-identified congresswoman is done, toast. Once her identity is out there and it's known that she's being blackmailed by the Turkish intelligence community and their government, that's it, she can no longer discharge her duties. This is coming very soon, and she's not going to be the only one marching out of Congress and into a courtroom.

Did I mention that it appears Indiana Rep. Dan Burton has been caught screwing around on his wife again, this time getting his dick caught in the gears of the Turkish government? Yes, he did. That's right folks, elected officials are taking bribes, being proffered a piece-of-ass, and even promised all kinds of things like a kingdom in hell, but most of all, they're being blackmailed and turned to spy on the rest of us, against our common interests.

That's treason, and it's not a joke or a laughing matter. Ask your local news outlet, paper, CNN, Fox, and all the rest of the mainstream media, why they're not covering the Sibel Edmonds story. Is there a connection to the DC Madam scandal? Could be. She and her defense counsel--Montgomery Blair Sibley--issued subpoenas to the DIA and the CIA, both institutions refused to accept them. It's a good thing they had Federal District (and former FISA court) Judge James Robertson looking out for their interests. It seems protecting reputations of criminals in high office is more important than national security, which makes it more than a little ironic when they invoke it in court to avoid exposure. That's not merely corruption, it's a dysfunctional political culture, a system in free fall.

Songs from the Site Meter: D.C.M.A. follow-up with more reflections on the DC Madam

Site Meter--Someone in a California town that I never heard of had a long read on DCMA, curious. Yes, a burb of Los Angeles, the fine city of Corona. Friends of Deskin? Sammala hisself? He should explain to me why he acted so strange when I encountered him on the phone and the Internet.

One fine day in the spring of 2008, Jeane Palfrey (the DC Madam) told me, "You have a conference call with Monique [Rawlings] and attorney Sam Deskin." Who? I'd never even had the displeasure of having one before, so I was puzzled.

And who the hell was this Sam Deskin and why was I supposed to talk to him? No context was given, so as you can imagine I was apprehensive about it and didn't want to talk to them, my normal, natural reaction to bullshit. But it was a jolly old time: we talked for a couple hours about the case for no obvious reason or goal, so I have to assume that he was pumping us for information, which he proceeded to do. You'd have to ask him why. Yes, everyone has an angle, a reason, "the rules of the game" we call life.

At one point in the conversation, my co-researcher got up on her soapbox (did I mention that she writes under the dorky pseudonym "SP Biloxi" or just "Biloxi"?) when I had the temerity to answer a question Deskin asked us, a rather bold one in-retrospect: "What do you guys expect to get out of this?" I had no idea how to answer him, it's the truth, but I said, "Dinner and an explanation from Jeane."

Keep-in-mind that this is regarding someone who's clearly guilty of pimping and who was laundering money left-and-right, probably all over the globe. Did I want her to pay for me to fly out to meet her and all the rest? Certainly, wouldn't you? Newsflash to Monique and the rest who haven't figured it out: She was guilty. But no, no, my co-researcher kept insisting that I tow-the-line that Jeane was "innocent," which wasn't necessary within the confines of the defense. By the time Deskin came along in February for this call, I was about done with the whole scene, I didn't particularly give a shit anymore.

I'm paraphrasing my co-researcher's reply, but this is its substance: "Matt, that's wrong. You cannot expect anything when you help someone." You'll excuse me, but it's impossible for me to write the English-language quite the way she manages to mangle it, pardon.

"Not even a criminal who laundered millions of dollars?" I thought--and laughed--to myself.

Rawlings and Deskin both agreed to agree with themselves--because it's convenient--and each other, and "took me to task." I didn't really care what they thought and still don't. Keep-in-mind that Deskin slithered into the picture wanting to buy all of Palfrey's phone records (hit his label for more detail) and to split any profits from his research into them 50/50. This kept going on until February 2008! The irony of all of this was that Palfrey came to me--not so in their respective cases.

I only wanted to chronicle the story, to be that fly on the wall. Dinner and an explanation from a female pimp doesn't strike me as a high crime, and I have to wonder what the hell was in both of their minds besides empty space. By the way, that space is now available for weddings, Barmitzvahs, and public receptions at $2,000-per-night, without security or any catering.

My question to Ms. Oo and whomever was looking-up on her is: why in the hell didn't you do anything to help the DC Madam (or people like Don Siegelman)? Are you stupid? Are you being blackmailed? Fox News caves and admits alliance with Cthuloid entities bent on destroying the planet...

Fox Nooze--Rawstory's reporting on this (slow news day), but it's old news. GWAR lead sing Oderus Urungus has been subbing for one of the talking necks there for their Red Eye show that I never watch and never will unless I'm being paid to.

From what I can tell, this is the SIXTH appearance on the Red Eye show, the last was around August 17th of this year. Oderus began appearing on the show beginning this June.

Considering that the aim of GWAR is total domination and ultimate destruction of this island earth, they should fit in just fine at Fox News. My question is this: when is Hannity and Geraldo going to become full-time members? Cthulu must be smiling, beneath the waves, somewhere off the coast of Massachusetts amidst the remnants of Atlantis (damn you Donovan).

Rumor has it that Oderus and GWAR have been rocking since 1984--untrue! The helmsman is at least 43,000,000,000 years old according to carbon dating of his member. Of course it's one of the top videos!

The New Devil's Dictionary: Delusion

Delusion, n.--A shared belief supported by power, therefore true. When the belief is not shared by the group, untrue, and therefore, the holder of it is mentally ill and resistant to reasoned argument or objective proof.

When the holder of said belief is not strong enough to enforce it on the group the belief itself is untrue, and therefore, they are heretical or mentally ill; also designates the pathology at the core of all civilizations.

Examples include the core belief of Aztec civilization that violent imperialism and the capture and sacrifice of enemy warriors was necessary in order to prevent the universe from plunging into eternal darkness. Incan civilization held that expansionist measures were necessary to please the gods and feed the cults of the dead emperors. Roman civilization felt it necessary to spread "Pax Romana" (Roman peace) to the barbarians, and so on.

Current examples posit that the core belief in the profit motive will continue to provide sustainable prosperity ad infinitum and redeem the world, while another related core belief of contemporary human civilization posits the "need" for entrenched and unaccountable hierarchy in order that the species may continue into the future. Does Fox News talking neck Chris Wallace covet the bum of Dick Cheney?

Faux Universe--He was preening, pawing, and only corrected the former VP once in the entire interview so as not to look like the obvious whore that he is, but nothing doing, Chris Wallace still came off like a whore to the powerful.

Worst of all: Wallace and Cheney were wearing virtually the same kind of pants and suit, just to let us know they're both of the same class, meaning privileged criminals. You'd think Wallace was interviewing his favorite pop star, and in-essence, he didn't even need to be there prompting Cheney's rehearsed statements to save his own ass and to keep the criminal programs he helped create and authorize going. Wallace was just a prop, a stool to stand on while Cheney used Fox News (the only news network he watches, just read a past rider) as his personal soap box.

Is there a word for this? Don't get me wrong, I stand for sexual freedom and have no issues or problems with homosexuals and people being who they are...well, until it impinges on the rights of others, and that's what we have going on here with these morons. Wallace was literally feeding Cheney his cues, it couldn't have been a more baldly-staged event, call it guerrilla theater since it's obvious Cheney never got over the 1960s-70s:

...WALLACE: Do you think this was a political move not a law enforcement move?

CHENEY: Absolutely. I think the fact is, the Justice Department has already reviewed the inspector general's report five years ago. And now they're dragging it back up again, and Holder is going to go back and review it again, supposedly, to try to find some evidence of wrongdoing by CIA personnel.

In other words, you know, a review is never going to be final anymore now. We can have somebody, some future administration, come along 10 years from now, 15 years from now, and go back and rehash all of these decisions by an earlier administration.

WALLACE: Let me follow up on that. The attorney general says this is a preliminary review, not a criminal investigation. It is just about CIA officers who went beyond their legal authorization. Why don't you think it's going to stop there?

CHENEY: I don't believe it. We had the president of the United States, President Obama, tell us a few months ago there wouldn't be any investigation like this, that there would not be any look back at CIA personnel who were carrying out the policies of the prior administration. Now they get a little heat from the left wing of the Democratic Party, and they're reversing course on that.

The president is the chief law enforcement officer in the administration. He's now saying, well, this isn't anything that he's got anything to do with. He's up on vacation on Martha's Vineyard and his attorney general is going back and doing something that the president said some months ago he wouldn't do.

WALLACE: But when you say it's not going to stop there, you don't believe it's going to stop there, do you think this will become an investigation into the Bush lawyers who authorized the activity into the top policymakers who were involved in the decision to happen, an enhanced interrogation program?

CHENEY: Well, I have no idea whether it will or not, but it shouldn't. ...

I wish to God it wouldn't stop there, but President Obama doesn't have the balls or the principles to do much about it--that is, without immense public scrutiny and pressure, and he's getting it. The reality is that this isn't really a criminal probe at all, but you can learn a lot of Cheney's fears and create a road map of what should happen out of his very foolhardy statements. If you know one thing about criminals, it's that they tend to give away everything if you're listening closely enough, they're perverse. To be sure, he's scared shitless, and this talk of it being "political" just shows his contempt of the public, the people who are keeping this alive because they don't want torture done in their names, and because they know full well none of Bush II's programs were making them any safer.

Wallace's very leading questions don't remotely constitute journalism on any planet in any known universe, but I do think the ass-lick has a yen for Dick. Fine, but be honest, admit you're a sycophant and that your parents beat you and touched you inappropriately, then we can move forward rather than all of this looking back (in anger). Here's to the demise of the mainstream media and news networks, the time of reckoning has come for these bastards and their ilk. Give the man a microphone...again, and again, and again, and again, until nobody ever wants to hear him ever again (too late).

Americans will continue to have their backs pushed up against the wall and there won't be any choice left but to confront these problems, and that means strikes, demonstrations, and rallying against the program that is rocketing us towards the abyss. It's time to muster the winter soldiers, and that's not a call to violence, it's a call to civic duty. The time has come, now. But look at Cheney and his preening apparatchik, his dog, Chris Wallace, and know the face of human tyranny. It's an ugly, pathetic picture of humanity, isn't it?

Site Meter--Some very interesting visitors! Do I think DCMA cared about the actual search they did on vets coming home? That's the most likely explanation until you realize that defense contractors figured highly in the DC Madam scandal, and then your suspicions begin to get raised a tad.

Yet, that's not enough since it's never enough and never-ending with the DC Madam narrative, it just keeps on ticking. If that weren't enough, there's someone reading about L.A. attorney Sam Deskin, a most mysterious fellow whom I encountered online and in a very weird conference call during that whole mess who wanted to buy Palfrey's remaining phone records (they were never released in their entirety, she had more), ostensibly to make some money off of...I'm not clear on this.

Publish them? Movie deal? I'd love it if he told me exactly what he had in-mind, but I assume he was repesenting some former clients and wanted to bury the records, maybe that's just me. Did I mention that he wanted to merge this blog with his own?

Luckily, there was a problem with compatability, all around. You think he wanted the materials related to the DC Madama scandal on here? I do. Sam's not talking, but I told him to hit the pavement long ago, and besides, he probably stuck his neck out far enough in his correspondence with Palfrey and his statements to me on the phone that were very peculiar indeed.

At one point, Sam induced (no money, he's that kind of an asshole) me to write for what must surely be a dummy-blog he put up for...I'm not clear on this one either, but it was up no earlier than 2007. A mysterious one, that Sam Deskin, say what you want about him, and I will. Considering how many government contracts he does--by definition making him a government contractor--you could be forgive in thinking that he was looking after someone's interests, probably other contractors and even some agencies, anagrams galore.

In short, he "practices false claims act law for the federal government and state governments brought by whistleblowers," according to his own site, but also others areas of the law. Did I mention that he sounds like he's a potty-mouthed 16 year old on the phone? If I was to guess, it was Deskin or one of his associates checking-up. Hold on, there's a wolf at the door, gotta run...
