BOB NEY CONFESSES FOR THIRD TIME: "OK, THIS TIME YOU'VE REALLY GOT ME."

Washington D.C.--Bob Ney says that he's resigning. This is news? Ten year olds knew this. He plead guilty? The evidence was well-known, though everyone should have due process, right? Not to the GOP, unless it involves themselves. At least they're consistent on this point. Like Mark Foley, Ney's considering getting treatment for alcoholism.

Let's see...we have George W. Bush, Winston Churchill, Dick Cheney, Boris Yeltsin, Ted Bundy, Tip O'Neill, J. Edgar Hoover, Leonid Brehznev, George H.W. Bush, Spiro Agnew, Nikita Khruschev, Mark Foley, Herman Goering, Bob Ney, Richard Nixon...I could go on-and-on. When you know that you are a pig who is forcing American families into-the-streets, you would drink too. A whole lot.

We know where this leads: pedophilia, because Mark Foley said so.
Are those gin-blossoms on Dennis Hastert's nose? What's most-irksome is, yesterday, Ney claimed he wasn't going to resign! Apparently, he sobered-up and reality sank in...then he had another drink.

BUSH GOES FROM WORST PRESIDENT TO BIGGER WIMP THAN HIS FATHER: HAS SECRET SERVICE HARRASS 14-YEAR-OLD CHILD

SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA--14-year-old Julia Wilson was harrassed Wednesday by two Secret Service agents for a myspace comment ('Kill Bush'). It seems the post had been up since last-Spring, but with the Bush administration disintegrating, desperate-measures were in-order. The girl was taken from a classroom, and then the agents began yelling-at-her--shades-of-Nixon before his resignation. AP reports that 'Julia Wilson said the agents threatened her by saying she could be sent to juvenile hall for making the threat."They yelled at me a lot," she said. "They were unnecessarily mean." Spokesmen for the Secret Service in Sacramento and Washington, D.C., said they could not comment on the case.'

They cannot talk-about the case, because the President won't let-them (like when he told the FBI to stand-down on Mark Foley). Why? Because he and his staff ordered them to harrass this girl. Seeing a pattern here? Why won't they leave our children alone? First, they want to ruin our economy, and the kids have few-options but to join the military to kill and molest other kids somewhere-else. Now, we have the Foley scandal. You think the GOP has a real problem in dealing-with children? You think? Those Secret Service agents were ordered to yell at this girl, dragging-her from her class, and for what? A childish-post. If you think this is appropriate, you need help. Look at this beautiful child--she's the future, while you--the GOP--are the decaying-past. Small-wonder you're jealous and hateful towards her, you being pederasts and abusers on a mass-scale.

Julia's parents support her on this, and the girl has now become radicalized. She's promised to organize her fellow High School-classmates against the war in Iraq and Afghanistan (where they'll be more-effective than most of the so-called anti-war movement). Somehow, this all seems familiar, like the successful-strategies of winning hears-and-minds in Vietnam and Iraq & Afghanistan. What a smashing-success: you, President Cheney and your underling George W. Bush thought you could push a kid around. Wrong.

Congratulations, you have made more lifetime-enemies of the war-machine than any standing-President. Without you, most Americans would still be apathetic about politics, but this is no-longer true. You have the power of the state, and you actually botched this one bigtime. You are a gaggle of hilarious, doddering dry-drunks who are staring Federal prison right-in-the-face. Your administration is patently manic-depressive--amazing-highs, and crushing-lows. The Democrats want your blood this-time. Some of you escaped their wrath during Iran-Contra, when they stupidly didn't jail you. Time's up, hell hath-no-fury like a 14-year-old girl. She will have children, and she will raise them to be fighters, too.

David Cross on Jon Stewart's 'The Daily Show'

COMEDY CENTRAL--Was he stoned, or what? Comatose, man, he was dusted. But his cartoon, Freakshow, looks hilarious and insane. I gotta catch it! Yep, he was stoned. Indica, Thai, Canadian, Colombian, but he was completely-blasted on the weed. How can I tell? He's gained-weight, he's had the munchies alot lately. Even Jon Stewart had to blurt-out the word 'stoned' during the long-pauses in the interview, but it was funny. Funny is always good, and it was good to see two pals sharing the knowledge that David was stoned. It was only natural for Stewart to fuck with him. It's de rigeur. It's great to see David Cross getting-his-due and being allowed to create such a bizarre-take on Saturday morning cartoons! We can assume the DVD-set will be uncut. He ain't Lenny Bruce, but he'll do, he deserves a better life than Lenny got.

Animal Love ('Tiersche Liebe', 1995) review

Done four-years before Models (1999), this is another of director Ulrich Seidl's (Jesus, You Know) submersions into Austrian-subculture, as well as a testament to the modern-crisis of isolation and solitude. The real people Seidl located for this film are on the margins of Austrian-society, which is a little different for him. Rather than his usual suburban and urban-subjects, he goes for people who are the forgotten of Austria. It could be anywhere: A pair of homeless young-men (whom I pity), an aged bourgeois- bachelorette and her unwholesome-relationship with her dog, two elderly men living in a high-rise tenement and their dog, and so-on. There is a silent-tragedy in the lives of these people that has made them shun people, and filling that hole with their pets. From there, it can get weird.

Nobody in Animal Love is a glamour-puss, but the people are remarkable for their ordinary-qualities--something you don't often see in films these-days. Somehow, by elevating-beauty, we have made the 'ordinary' extraordinary. 'Liebe' begins with a series of simple-tableaux of the owners and their pets. But before we know it, many of the owners begin 'begging-the-question' as to why they are so close to their animal-companions: problems with past-relationships, and a general-disenchantment with people and society. Of course, much of this is from simple-inequality, the press of humanity, and how the workplace structures our lives. The forces that have shaped people in Seidl's documentaries are almost always absent or invisible. He should come to America sometime, he would find more-acute cases of estrangement. Americans are certainly overworked compared to the continental European-model. But, in some cases, it's just broken-lives of people who would be messed-up in a utopia, and this is the fodder of all good drama. Many of the people in this documentary are very-very poor and isolated because of their social-status. This sometimes gives the film the feel of Dickens, but it is instructive and fascinating nonetheless.

The skinny, older Austrian-man has a very interesting series-of-observations about contemporary-life in our modern, and regimented world. It is a general existentialist-position: He correctly-proposes that people become neurotic like animals that are caged because of all the rules and laws that widely confine-us. It is an interesting comment on why the men have their dog, and is underscored when we see them arguing over petty-things. Ironically, the dog attacks the smaller-dog of a woman on a walk outside of their flat, and it just underlines how alienated people are nowadays. Seidl's passionless-gaze on these lives expresses how brutal and cold our world is, and that much of it is natural. Not even the commonality of having-dogs helps these people transcend and communicate with eachother. It's an unfortunate moment for everyone.

One has to face the fact that when you can no-longer imagine anything-else but your routine, you have become conquered. Many people simply don't note this consciously, and they become peculiar in their behaviors. This is a dangerous state to be in. At some point, it leeches-into the culture, and you know an unhappy-one when you see it. Just watch five-minutes of American television, and you tell me we have a 'happy' culture. I'm sure the same can be said for Austria, France, or Germany, as well. Look at Japanese cinema--is it happy? Every politician and businessman in the developed world should watch Seidl's films, so as to see where we are all heading. It would also be a good-lesson for architects and city-planners, so they can make environments people can actually live in. The problem: this situation is to-their-advantage, so the only-solution is to replace-them.

Some of these relationships with the animals in Animal Love definitely border-on bestiality, but Seidl spares us this, at-least; but not much-else. The thin man's discourse on 'too-many rules' and caged-animals hinges-on-this: Are the pets being caged? Or is it the owners? Has modern life been more fully-engineered as a 'trap' than we would care to admit? The viewer has to decide this for themselves, and there are no-explanations, or any need for them. Digging this deeply is what makes Ulrich Seidl the most subversive documentarian alive today, he has no-peer (maybe Herzog). Do not miss any of his films if you value the truth. Werner Herzog's review/statement on this film is spot-on. Not to be missed, and not so depressing as one might think. It beats doing the peeping-Tom routine!

Huffington Post Troll List (copy-away!)

SanitynotHannity just provided a list of all the trolls on Huffingtonpost.com, it's amazingly-long. How-many of these people are conservative PAC-operatives? How-many of them are working-for the GOP and the Bush administration? They have all the same talking-points, sometimes before the Bush administration voices-them. This is very suspicious. If you see them on other liberal' blogs, report them to the webmaster:

JonQuixote [ed.-I have pummeled him too-many times], 12ax7 [ditto], rightfromthebeginning, ddh [I pity him for how badly he got pummeled], truthman2, sonofdy, hillaryscock, landsurveyor, alvaston, shoemaker, TeddysBloatedLiver, BJClinton [big ditto], Monsieur, grossprophet, bubbabgone, farts, cswnow, Amhet, DGmC9Bflat, Kudzu, cheneyhasaweathermachine, miza, ronaldusmaximus, cswnow, Flag, CrackHead, jacksnead, ChuckYouFarley, karb420, BobBobb, TomE, wvrebelyell, FedUpWithLibs, YourMammaWasAMonkey, ProudNeoCon, Republicus, dozers4, peaveydreamer, bridgetjones, KP, liberalsmustdie, dogcatcher, daito, SydsDad, beefeater, pa104inf, Anonymous, SayWhat, leftloonatoon, Floridan, tomh, davew, AmericanPie, scalitofan, Builder, bradgates2, McHale, curious1, mike53, truthman2, sighkobabl, Dazy, BeefitswhatsforDinner, BertLoc, Whatureallysaid, LockAndLoad, TheSleepingGiant, Gamecock, Skeleton, 2tim3, ilikeyourtinfoilhat, 4Q2, Bulow.

Their screen-names aren't a provocation, not-at-all. The best-approach is NOT TO RESPOND, but it's like shooting fish-in-a-barrel, so just keep on-topic when you slam-them (if you must). The scariest-thing is the list isn't remotely complete! A psychaitrist would feel overwhelmed by these whack-jobs, they run-the-gamut of most known neuroses (I think they invented a few of their own). Many of them had different-names initially, but were thrown-off other sites they were harrassing, including Huffingtonpost. DDH and Annie have my vote for most-offensive, stubborn and possibly brain-damaged.

Huffington Post, Bill Moyers, and Me

BLOGOSPHERE--A recent IGF meeting has voiced concerns about a 'Balkanization' of the internet, breaking into separate-regions. This is already a trend, and will continue, as a majority of users will be Chinese-language. The problem is that most of the infrastructure on the internet is in Latin-characters, rather than Kanji, Cyrillic, Arabic, etc. But I don't think this means we'll all suddenly be cut-off from eachother, I think global-connectivity is here-to-stay for most users who will continue to want it. But there will definitely be some closed-systems, and they will be specialized for paying-users. You'll be able to skirt-around them, because there's too-much money involved in the new routes of commerce.

How this will affect everything else is unknown, as though anyone could predict where any of this is going. It just seems a natural-trend for things to disperse and become more-detailed and specific, especially with science and technology. This is so true of blogs. You have cooking-blogs, music, rants (my area), personal, sexual, rants, politics (the ones the mainstream media fears), health, community, hobbies, charities, neighborhood, basically anything-goes. But there are a few blogs that are pretty high-profile, and Arianna Huffington's is one of the big ones. It must be what watching the birth of the American-press was like in 1714, with the first-issue of New York City's 'Fugger Times.' The blogs are also like the handbills from the period before the American Revolution, only more-effective, and you could say that Americans are experiencing a similar 'ferment of ideas.' This time, virtually everyone can voice their opinion, which is threatening to the authoritarian-minded.

I love the site, and often find story-links to the news before bothering to find it with yahoo or google. Sometimes I find their bylines...rushed? With so much news flowing-in, and so many comments being posted there, it must be a pretty hectic-job for their staff. But, occasionally, I've noticed a trend with posting-comments. I think sometimes Arianna gets overambitious in courting her celebrity-bloggers, and gets overprotective of them. Then, there's the incident with George Clooney, which was just silly and rash. Al Franken occasionally drops-in, even Al Gore. Jimmy Carter. Yawp. I even likes some of Alec Baldwin's writing, he's as mad as I am (not about our divorces)! Now, Harry Shearer is brilliant, and he can easily hold-his-own against some of the slob-comments that get-posted on his blogs, but then there's sometimes-blogger Bill Moyers.

It must have been January of this-year when the illegal NSA-wiretapping story broke. Moyers wrote a piece condemning the actions. This was commendable up-to-a-point, but he got very blustery, sounding more like Cicero lamenting the end of the Republic than someone suggesting legal-actions against it. But the Senate made Caesar, what did they expect? He almost sounds like Thomas Jefferson in his retirement. Why? Because both Bill Moyers and Thomas Jefferson ordered the illegal-surveillance of perceived enemies of the state, and they knew hypocrisy.
Apparently Mr. Moyers still has to live with his guilt against Black Americans. Jefferson spied-on his own specific political-enemies, and Moyers on Dr. Martin Luther King jr. In the early-1990s, I discovered this fact while reading Dr. King's FBI-file, which is available in book-form. It really shocked me, and since that time, I cannot believe much of what Mr. Moyers says about his commitments to the principles of democracy. He is hardly-alone, I would lump Bob Woodward in too, as well as anyone who ever worked in our State Department. America has never had a just Attorney General, and never will while they are still appointed. I could go on.
Anyway, I was the first to respond to the Moyers' piece on NSA-surveillance of millions of Americans, illegally. I demanded that Mr. Moyers comment on his authorization (on-orders from LBJ in 1967) of illegal-wiretaps on Dr. King. My comment was immediately-pulled, amazing! I kept-posting it again-and-again, and every time Mr. Moyers did a blog--I was there with the same-comments. Hey, I'm not AP, but I have a right to ask. Eventually--to-their-credit--Huffington Post let the comments stand. But, I've noticed they're up-to-it again. Sometimes, I wonder about Arianna's motives, but boy is she a battering-ram against the right. If you can take them down, I'm with you lady, just keep the dialog open and transparent. Otherwise, you're just a poseur, just part of a counterrevolution. I grant that this is all new, and who wants to be critique by some goober in the Midwest? Indeed. ;0) But you have to have some accountability.

You tell me, man.

NICER: DONNELLY SUPPORTERS TEARING-DOWN CHOCOLA SIGNS TOO

SOUTH BEND--This is getting pretty hilarious. I went-down to the Donnelly office to get another-sign, and told a volunteer my sign was stolen. The young-guy said, 'Yeah, it's happening all-over the [2nd] district. We're out-of-signs, sorry.' So, I gave them $25 to offset the morons who stole the sign from my front-yard. I also mentioned to him something-else: someone had defaced a Chocola-sign by spraying a line through-his-name with black spray-paint. My theory is this--someone did the Chocola-signs first, flipped-out, and defaced Donnelly-signs. Then, they stole my sign. It's good to see the spirit of tolerance and compromise is still-alive in America. I disapprove of both candidates' signs being defaced. But if someone proved Chocola knew-about Mark Foley's pedophilia, then it would be OK, then. ;0) I'd tell you about the hijinks in Roseland, Indiana's (down-the-road from Notre Dame University) town council, but that's for another-entry. It might be a documentary soon (WINK!).

ISIS

If you have never heard the music of ISIS, I recommend that you do. Normally, I wouldn't advocate a metal band, but these guys transcend the genre. While they are pretty heavy-sounding, they also embody elements of the last 40-years of experimental-music. A good-chunk of their sound is reminiscent of early-Floyd, but also has some post-punk and industrial influences thrown-in. If I was to describe them, it would be as the Sonic Youth of metal. Yes, the vocals are often like in most metal-songs (COOOKIES!!!), but it all works, and the music is sincere. They also have their own label called Hydrahead, and their roster is excellent. Check some samples of their music, it's pretty cool. They have a couple CDs on Mike Patton's (ex-Faith No More, & Mr. Bungle) infamous Ipecac records. You could do worse, like buying an emo CD. Actually, that would be the worst-thing you could do.

Hydrahead's site (sucks for dial-connecs):

Hey, it's Paul Lynde (why not?):

Something I found...

WWW--I found this little animation at
www.southbendforums.com, it's a bourgeois-hoot. Go to this link, it's where the animation is in full-bloom, it's clever. Gary Coleman and David Hasselhoff (who Germans apparently love) chillin' with the hydraulic car. Hi-lar-ious.

Mario Bava's The Whip and the Body (1963) review

This is undeniable-proof that Mario Bava was one of the best horror-directors of all time. The maestro's use of color and unnatural-lighting is stellar, and unique. There are few films that convey desire so deeply, so-yearningly, but also depict repulsion just as well; and aren't the two inextricably-entwined in horror? It is perhaps the best Gothic horror film of the 1960s, bar-none, and that includes some of Hammer's finest. In-fact, you can see that in Bava's, Hammer's and Roger Corman's 'Gothic' films, there is a dialog going on. They copied-each other, but few would be so daring as Bava, as this is the best S&M horror-film, and the sexiest too.

Dahlia Lavi couldn't be more desirable in this, and the S&M depictions are pretty racy, even by the standards of today. In 1963, the culture couldn't withstand-it. For this reason, it was radically-cut in most regions-of-distribution (except Germany!). 'Black Sunday/Mask of Satan' (1960) may have been the 'Citizen Kane' of horror, but this is Bava's 'Tales of Hoffmann' (1951), and all these films should be seen by serious horror fans. Corman, AIP and Hammer had blood, brains, bulging-boobs and cleavage, but not this!
It is probably the most underrated film I have ever seen. A film like The Whip and the Body has to be watched repeatedly to truly appreciate, and it gives-up secrets with each viewing. What has always been a shoddy dubbing job has marred this film's reputation and relegated it to-the-margins of the horror genre. The Whip and the Body is the essence of what truly makes-up horror, especially Gothic horror, and it is psychosexual tension. If you cannot appreciate such literary concerns, or the eternal-issues involving the human condition, you aren't going to enjoy it, because it is a pretty literary film. It is poetic and strongly erotic. It is also decidedly not 'PC', but who cares anymore about that? Art never is, nor should it be, 'acceptable.' It simply is.

Outside of Hitchcock, psychological horror doesn't get much better than this masterpiece. It is a ghost story, and so much more. It is a study of sexual obsession, and the demons that haunt all relationships. Who has not been haunted by a lover from one's past? If you haven't, you are missing-something important in the human condition, so go out and find it. The archetype of the 'demon lover' is in full-bloom in this masterpiece, and it is titillating and emotionally-powerful for it. It should also be said the film has a few similarities to Ricardo Freda's classic, 'The Ghost' (1963), which is likely due to the era it was made in, and the fact that Bava was frequently Freda's assistant director. Guilt plays its part in the films of both directors, usually manifesting as an apparition. Catholic guilt? This is likely, but neither Bava or Freda can be typed so easily, they were nonconformists in their stylizations, with Bava even showing a connection with Slavic-literature in the works of Gogol and Tolstoy. He borrowed from a lot of literary sources, including Lovecraft, making it into something that was his own. The director was also known for his belief in Italian folk superstitions, and he drew from Italy's folklore and  Roman mythology.

As far as I can tell, much of the 'color-coding' in this film for given characters was relatively-new when Bava attempted-it. Powell & Pressberg's 'Tales of Hoffman' is the closest I can recall with this style conveying horror so effectively. Lee's-character (Kurt Menliff) is portrayed in the cobalt-hues of blue ever to grace a Technicolor film, suggesting the character spectral-nature. Other times, Lee is lit with a green light on his face giving him the appearance o Osiris. I'd say some aspects of the film resemble the myth of the resurrection of Osiris by Isis (through sexuality). Lee is the dying god, Nevenka his Astarte or Isis. Scenes of passion with Dahlia Lavi are decidedly red-in-hue, while when the apparition of 'Kurt' gives us scenes that are green or blue. One scene has Lavi walking down a hallway while each side of her face keeps changing colors as her emotions change. The whole approach is a kind of expressionism of color, the hues conveying the internal states of the characters. The Technicolor process made colors so deep!

This is film-as-artifice, and we should never forget this while viewing the works of a director like Bava, he reveled in this artificiality. This helped him emphasize the thematic visually, rather than through dialog and a linear narrative. Yes, it's supposed to look 'fake', it's a film reality, like in a Tarantino film. This movie has suffered-enough! The storyline isn't very difficult to follow, it's just the poor dubbing by the Italian production company. When a film is this low-budget (for 1963), it's usually post-production that suffers, and it does here. The owners of this property should record Mr. Lee's dialog for this film-- he has offered, after-all, so why-not? It's insane to think the producers of a film with Christopher Lee would not see fit to use his actual voice, because he is an actor who was known for it (and still is).

NICE: CHOCOLA SUPPORTERS TEARING-DOWN OPPONENT'S SIGNS

South Bend, Indiana--Someone ripped the Joe Donnelly (Democrat) sign from my front yard. Guess they don't believe in my right to free expression, but that's the GOP for you! I don't even like Donnelly much, but at least he isn't a Republican. I'm getting a new one tomorrow, no effect by the dummies. Why do I think it was some tornado-bait, white-trash factory dog?

Because Indiana is white trash heaven, why do you think?! Most idiots here are descended from farmers, gangster-molls and Klansmen. In case you wonder about the state's name, it's because there were never very many Native Americans here. Many were run out on the trail of tears, to be replaced by people in trailer parks, weird. If I had seen the sign-thieves, I would have written-down their license-plate number. Then the cops woulda paid them a visit--hilarity-ensues.

If they intruded-on my property, I would have creased their scalps with my blackjack. Not-so-ironically, tearing-down my sign doesn't stop the boyfucking episode from sinking the GOP either, so play again. How goofy, you tore-down my Donnelly sign (a guy I don't even care-for), when I can get another-one every time you do it, dummies. This is the climate in Northern Indiana. Yes, I was born-and-raised here. I guess the next thing is the local GOP doing cross-burnings at polling-places when Black people show-up, but Arizona, Ohio and Florida seem to have that one covered. Why does the GOP want to touch our children? That's terrorism, after all.

Why do you think they have that animal stare and the boorish braggard posture? They know they're just cowboy faggots. Besides, gay men could beat their asses (I don't hate gay men, they do. replace hate with 'desire' for homophobes). They only beat women, because they are pussies. They are closet-queens. Beer (shitty-beer) swilling rednecks with no brains, no balls, and no luck. They don't even do real drugs, just methamphetamine. Factory owners love their asses, because they work real hard and fast on that speed for their daily slave.

Some of them hurt themselves for that big-payoff: workman's compensation. Those factory owners are something else, too. Yes, they allow retards to be rich in America, so now you know why we're so fucked. Look at Bush, and you tell me.

They're really the same trash as their employees, only with some money. Hiring illegal aliens (illegally!), and fleecing rednecks--it would be funny if it didn't affect everyone else but rednecks. Only staggering stupidity and cowardice could have created an America like the one we have now. That's why most of the drug tests they use can be easily bypassed for cocaine and meth abusers, it's like advocating specific drugs.

There are now TV ads for drug testing firms! It's an obvious violation of the 4th Amendment, but who tried to stop it? Some of the unions and the ACLU, because it sure t'wernt the goobers here in Indiana. People who don't struggle don't deserve respect, they have no credibility. But what rednecks and most white racists really want is to be sodomized by a BIG Black man, that's why they yammer about how they hate (fear/desire X frustration=hate-crime) 'fags' and 'niggers.' If you think white trash are quaint, remember that Mitch Daniels and George W. Bush are the price.

It's better if
some people adhere to voter apathy.
Black people vote smarter than most whites.

Non sequitur: I noticed ALL the local 7 Elevens still sell CITGO, and still display the CITGO logo on all their sites here in Michiana. ;0) Viva Hugo Chavez! Some Alaskans have rejected a cheap heating-oil program from Venezuela. It takes amazing ignorance to refuse this, especially if you're poor. If the ones who didn't want it, freeze...oh well. Everyone knows Alaskans are nuts--look where they live. You have to be paid to live there.

Captain Beefheart

It wasn't until 1988 that I first heard the album Trout Mask Replica. A friend from the Czech Republic (Czechoslovakia in 88') told me, 'Matt, I am for to be doing you a favor. You are going to have to listen to whole-album. You will be thanking-me later.' Thanks Jara, I hated the LP at that time--all 79-minutes of it--but it changed my view of music forever. Don Van Vliet (aka 'Captain Beefheart') had actually played in South Bend in 1979 at the legendary Vegetable Buddie's. Scarier: my own mother saw him, so it must have blown-her-mind. For those who have never heard the music of Vliet and the Magic Band, you must search-it-out. It beggars description, but imagine mixing Delta blues, Stravinsky, Dadaism, Fluxus, Ornette Coleman, Bernard Hermann, and the creative-insanity of childhood. If you've ever heard any Deerhoof, or early-DEVO, you know what I mean.

My love of Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band has outlasted almost everything: a bad ten-year marriage, college, the Gulf War, bad-jobs, the deaths of family-and-friends, everything. It's ironic, but art-snobs forget people use music (especially pop) to mark the moments in their lives, to mark-time. But Beefheart has been useful in other-ways. If you really-really want to remove unwanted-company (my ex brought-over junkies and other scum), put on Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band. The majority of humanity will react-physically and just leave, it's funny to watch. If that doesn't work, try the Butthole Surfer's 'Rembrandt Pussy Horse',
or 'Locust Abortion Technician', a classic. PiL also does wonders in removing unwanted-company. You can't lose.

CBGB's FINALLY Closing: 10,000 Ramones-bands Mourn

'I created Punk for this day and age. Do you see Britney walking around wearing ties and singing punk? Hell no. That's what I do. I'm like a Sid Vicious for a new generation.'

---Avril Lavigne: (Seventeen Magazine, 2002)

NYC (Lowah East Side)--It's high-time for this to happen. The place is a shithole, it's crowded, hot, and full of stupid middle-class poseurs. Rather than create their own culture, young-Americans feel some need to have their own large-scale Civil War re-enactment by playing their parent's music. Nowadays, it's edging on the music of their grandparents. Make your own culture and identity, you dumbasses. Emo? WTF is that?! I hate that shit.
Why do I want to hear kids playing shitty-rock and whining the lyrics like a pussy? They sound like they're crying, jesus. At least some of you like metal, but if I never hear music played on a guitar with distortion ever-again, I would be fine. It isn't new anymore, it has no shock-value or edge left to it. It is p-r-e-d-i-c-t-a-b-l-e. Punk was great 30-years-ago, but now it's just a bad-joke we've heard now for too-long. It's tired--yes tired. It was barely-original at-the-time, and the bands that really stood-out didn't sound like the iffy Ramones. You only need the first-three Ramones records, anyway, the rest is the same albums with different-words. Good-riddance, but the crackhouse across-the-street might be hurt by it, and that has me more-concerned than this closing. And great, that art-snob Patti Smith is playing one-last-time--at-least the Dictators are too. Things change, life changes, accept this.

Things end, get-ovah-it. Those scenes died ages-ago, and the music in CB's has been shitty for 20-years. Most scenes last TWO-YEARS, TOPS. Why? Because they'r populated by assholes. The Sex Pistols wisely-avoided playing the place, only playing the South in 1978. The Velvet Underground was already dead. It held 300-people, MAXIMUM. Yes, my favorite-bands played there--and they aren't yours, so fuck you. Thank you God, PUNK IS DEAD, it is finally dead. The irony is: Iggy and the Stooges are reunited, and they sound-better than most of the kids now, go-figure. I don't have to. If you suck, you suck, period. The Stooges don't, and they're finally getting-their-due. Get a real identity, not some pre-packaged one that was someone else's. Grow-up. You suck. Learn how to write and play music, then we'll talk. Discover who you REALLY are, then we'll talk. Hilly Kristal is 74-years-old, and he plans to move CBGB's to Vegas. What more is there to say? Yep, OVER.

HOW DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATES CAN WIN: BE SEXY

UNITED STATES of AMERICA--Taking my 'lede' from Lysistrata, I figured nobody could lose with these on-their-side. Ladies, you know what to do with what God gave you, now go save-the-world! Democrats: you need to tout your virility and manliness, as well as the fact that you like curvey-women--which is why you married one years-ago! Feet, do your stuff. Kick out the jams, motherfuckers!

Sienna Miller Exegesis

Pittsburgh--Hey, lady, shut-up. That's a good town, it not like London doesn't have slums. George Romero lived there. Jude Law has already made a big enough fool of you, why add to it? Because, you're 23--a dumbass. We were all dumbasses when we were young, and with some luck, you'll grow up. Are English women as crazy as American women? I know Canadian women are much friendlier than their American sisters. How? Getting some leg in Toronto isn't tough, trust me. Maybe because the Puritans didn't flee to Canada? Maybe because they never burned witches? This patriarchy has me all confused too.

The real issue is 'hot' women. They want men who display unflappable certainty, never sweating or blinking (like Steve Forbes, space alien extraordinaire). They want another daddy, they want patriarchy's perks with a dash of Feminism's. The problem is wanting things both ways, which is pretty typical of the American female. It's also called 'being nuts'. Women want attractive men too, and this is fair, since men want women who they find sexually attractive. But what is truly bizarre is when an attractive woman stupidly tries to convince her friends she wants someone with 'depth' (projection, she wants to prove she has 'depth'). Depth? Well yes, just not emotionally...

Why lie Sienna? We only care because you're a creature to be looked-at, groped and tagged. There's nothing wrong with that, but accept that you and women like you're basically stupid, but look sexually attractive. This attractiveness warps your self-image making your ego and personality distort, like Napoleon with...well, he actually did have tits. Yes, he was fondling them. It's a double-edged sword trading on looks. Besides, if we cared what your ilk thought, you would know it, because you would be smart and witty. Usually, we're so sex-starved from bad relationships, and it forces us to stare at your tits. We're even afraid to date your kind, the last time...no, it's too painful to recall. But this cult of 'good looks' is tiresome, and yours truly likes girls who are chubby anyway. Natural women with some meat on them, normal women who are comfortable with their bodies just as they were born. Just eat something, please. You look awkward, too skinny, you look skeletal. Models are zombies.
They say women who have a morbidly skinny build ('ectomorphs') are more likely to have schizophrenic children. So don't breed if you were born the way you look now. If not, just eat ferchrissakes. Peasant women are chubby, that's how all of our ancestors lived for thousands-of-years in Europe. Roman slaves looked like you do, and they were worked to death. You're abnormal. Eat. How many Feminists really accept Darwinism? You know, emotionally? I don't mean 'social Darwinism', either. Eat something. Men and women have the gear that they do for one-reason, so how about getting over it? If promiscuity was wisely promoted, we'd stop looking at your breasts. Then, of course, you'd start missing it (sorry, you would). I pity any woman who's attractive who has a mind and full heart, but I've never met one. I've only met attractive women.

NEW REPUBLICAN TALKING-POINT ON FOLEY SCANDAL: 'THIS IS NEW McCARTHYISM'

WASHINGTON--One-problem: it was your party who unleashed the first one, but since when is convicting criminals (no-matter who they are) a "new McCarthyism"? They'll get their fair-trials, certainly fairer than for the poor and minorites, and 'illegals'. When you're a criminal who knows they are cornered and has no-options left,YOU--the GOP--go from delusions-of-adequacy, to a persecution-complex. You look funny. Well, yes, this is how criminals feel, bucky--welcome to reality.

You are about to go-to-jail for years, including your President and most of his incompentent-cabinet. Time for the perp-walks, and it's going to be next-year whether you keep your majority, or not. It's over, politicos. We got the badges on you, and the law-itself. We are a nation of laws, or we are not. The jig is up. Your talking-points are useless and transparent--possibly the only time we'll have transparency in-government while you are in-office. It won't wash anymore. Joe McCarthy drank himself-to-death (and that was damned white-of-him) by 1957, how will all of you end-up?

Former Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert was dumbfounded yesterday at his farm-conference, since he couldn't remember anything memorable a Republican had said since Lincoln. So he quoted a Democratic President who was also a stupid-asshole, namely Harry Truman. Yes, Harding invented the term 'bloviate' and 'normalcy' in that other corrupt-decade of GOP-rule, the 1920s. Nuff-said on that. Gerald Ford: still dying. Even William F. Buckley hates you. Kissinger--he's been advising George W. Bush on diplomacy, so that must be why the world is so fucked right-now.

GOP-incumbents: You're caught, and you tried to cover-it-up. Dennis Hastert, your farm is beckoning. People are testifying-otherwise to your assertions, and many of them will be able to prove it in Federal-court. Wha? Yes, Federal internet child-protection laws that the GOP's Mark Foley helped-author have been violated. Also, conspiracy is a Federal-crime which can earn a sentence of as much as twenty-years. But the FBI is on-to-you incumbents. They're coming with the battering-rams to knock you doors down. Even if you appeal your convictions, your political-careers are over, like Tom Delay's, and the rich will now have to find another generation of political-shills to replace your Spiro Agnew asses.

But we'll know what they are from-the-beginning. Traditional conservatives have no-reason to trust you anymore, either. Neither does the evangelical-right, you didn't deliver their theocracy. This is pushing the clock back to pre-Reaganism, just wait. America can be great again without you in-power, and we can be proud again. We can deliver on the promise of liberty that this country really embodies, because this is the last-stand of humanity. If America fails, the world does too. This doesn't meean America is extra-special, it just means this is IT. It could've been Germany that decided-things, France, Vietnam, Brazil, Spain, New Guinea, but it just fell-on-us in this era. We aren't better than anyone-else, and we have risen-to-the-occasion before. They say Joe McCarthy drank so-much before he died, he had to swallow a stick-of-butter so the whiskey wouldn't burn so-badly, poor old Joe. Poor old Roy Cohn, you died of AIDs. Poor GOP, you never change, which means you might end-up like The Whig Party (the one you replaced).

Children of Hammer: The Flesh and the Fiends (1959) review

'Burke's the Butcher, Hare's the Thief, and Knox Is the Man That Buys the Beef.'
--From a 19th Century Scottish folk song

This is quite possibly the finest British horror film ever made--except that it is almost entirely true. The Flesh and the Fiends is nothing less than a fairly truthful accounting of the original 'bodysnatchers,' Burke and Hare who resorted to murder after running out of 'fresh' corpses for a Dr. Thomas Knox, of Edinburgh, Scotland. It is a scandalous story that would never have been possible were it not for antiquated religious notions that it was unholy to disinter the dead--even if approved by the deceased and their survivors--for the purposes of medical inquiry. Shot in an shadowy expressionist black, there are few films that top this in the horror canon. Hammer had some great films, but this is really the capper. Burke and Hare just wanted money to drink and whore. In the squalor of early industrial Britain, there were precursors to Jack the Ripper, and Burke and Hare could have taught Jack a few lessons.

Britain's early industrial poverty spawned rampant licentiousness, disease and violence. When human life is considered worthless, you get a tendency for crime and murder of this type. For those who don't know, Great Britain in the 1820s was the time of Charles Dickens. Dr. Knox was one of numerous aristocratic doctors of his day who had to resort to the employ of bodysnatchers to obtain fresh-cadavers for his anatomical research. Because of this, Flesh and the Fiends is also a tale about scientific ethics--with a wrongheaded ending! Dr. Knox was definitely aware at some point that Burke and Hare were murdering human-beings for money (this all paid handsomely at the time), to provide him bodies. It doesn't get much darker than this. Would we even bat an eye today? In Houston (circa 1960s-1970s), the coroner's office was selling the cadavers of homeless black men to the Department of Energy for radiation experiments. Today, there are organized crime groups who snatch organs from the living and the dead for the highest-bidders! Egads, bodysnatching never ended. The film: it was produced by a tiny independent English studio called 'Independents-International', and is regarded as their best film. It should be, it has a looming style that is unforgettable. Images that remain with the viewer are the film's strong point. It is one of the best black-and-white horror films ever made.

Directed by Hammer director John Gilling, it was also a minor hit, and is easily one of Peter Cushing's best performances. Also noteworthy is Donald Pleascence's performance of the deadly Hare, which is very nuanced. Cushing's performance is also nuanced, illustrating the moral-dilemma that Knox must have felt utilizing the kind of cadavers Burke and Hare provided him. How can you lose with a movie that has him and Peter Cushing?! Everything about The Flesh and the Fiends is convincing, even for such a low-budget thriller. The original negatives of the film were located in the 1990s, so most of the editions on DVD are superb, and contain the 'Continental version' that has plenty of flesh (and fiends) on-display. What a wild-romp, and yet what a chilling parable of the abuses of power in a rotten-era of human-history. It's sad how things aren't very different. You could do worse than to watch this. This is a movie for true horror lovers who realize horror is of human origin. Be sure to check the Brooksfilm (Mel's old company) version of this story, 'The Doctor and the Devils' (1985). It's pretty good, too, though not as good as this. When I saw it as a kid, I thought it was about Jack the Ripper!

Foley and 1994: Salting The Root-System of 'Predatorgate'

WASHINGTON--It still amazes me that there are still Americans who think there was no cover-up in the Foley scandal. While a steady-steam of former-pages keeps moving out of the shadows, telling us and the FBI that they told the GOP-leadership for years of Foley's misconduct, some just think it's being pushed by the Democrats. This is factually-untrue, and a calculated-lie. The Drudge report is going into overdrive, trying to tell us this is scandal was initiated and funded by 'George Soros' and the Democratic Party--or worse, the media isn't obeying-them anymore: 'Hastert had blamed Democrats for the election-season revelations, but on Thursday abruptly changed course and took responsibility for the matter.' (AP, 10/06/2006) It's interesting to note that Hastert's press-conference was pushed-backed two-times yesterday, suggesting some serious chaos behind-the-scenes. It doesn't matter, he's gone, he just won't accept it. When you're a Republican incumbent, and the conservative Washington Times says you have-to-go, it's time.

This conspiracy-argument is rubbish, and 2/3rd's of the public aren't buying-it. But what of the others who actually believe this? Why don't polls figure-in mental-illness, retardation, illiteracy, emotional-retardation, and the authoritarian-personality? Why do women find assholes attractive? Yes, it sounds funny (because it is), but all bear-investigation. That's why it won't ever happen. In order to control morons, you have to massage their egos.

One former-page is stating he was approached inappropriately by Foley in 1995. This is the immediate-aftermath of the GOP-seizure of Congress during the Clinton administration. Even Democrats and the media are wrong when they say that the GOP hid this because 'they became out-of-touch' after years of controlling the House. This is untrue based on this testimony (if it's true!), but when exactly has the GOP ever been 'in-touch' with the public or reality? It's my opinion that once the GOP got-into-power in those-days, the culture became: 'We can do whatever we want now, no-accountability Damn that JFK and his sex with adult-females!' Foley got this message loud-and-clear. He assumed-correctly that his misbehavior would go-unnoticed amongst the avalanche of corruption. To be fair, Democrats are simply more-discreet and intelligent about their corruption, we find-out decades-later. Indeed, it seems most of their dalliances are of a more 'innocent-kind'. They are infrequent, and are between consenting-adults, not minors. You know, children, the little-people the GOP says they're protecting for us. Certainly, there are the unknown-cases, and in the spirit of bipartisanship, one should hope they get-caught too.

A number of blogs are saying this is a 'distraction by Karl Rove'--this is utter-bullshit, and wrong-headed elitism. You morons don't have the truth anymore than I or the media and other-blogs, and you seem to have a contempt for your readership that should sink-you. No party in any parlimentarian or bicameral democracy would want this, not ever. If you think people don't know 13 American soldiers died since-Monday, you're cracked. Most of us do. Even a casual-observer knows the situation in Iraq is beginning to resemble the Battle of Stalingrad, the beggining-of-the-end of another empire. Not-only can you not win a guerilla-war in the modern world, you cannot win in house-to-house fighting either. In an underreported aspect of the war, someone is supplying insurgents with gold-tipped RPGs that can penetrate through both-ends of an M-1 Abrams tank. Who would have the capital? Ask some Gulf state nations and their ruling-families. The story is three-years-old. (http://www.armytimes.com/story.php?f=1-292236-2336437.php)

Pundits and the public alike see what they want to see. Iraq was always a disaster, beginning with the immediate-aftermath when the Iraqi-military was disbanded. This wasn't even done in postwar Germany (a child playing the game 'Risk' would grasp this). We know there was no Marshall Plan in Iraq, but we also know the illegal-invasion was virtually unilateral from the fit the Bush administration threw. It's obvious the GOP will do anything to keep its majority in Congress. Pundits are baffled at how President Bush is still-supporting House Speaker Dennis Hastert, but it should be clear: if they lose their majority, genuine-investigations will come for a majority that has run-roughshod over the congressional-minority and the American public. But even-better, the GOP might give the game away and point-out Democratic crimes we don't know-about. We still have a two-party nightmare, after all.

Yes, it will be payback time, and there will be a lot of heads rolling. But it will be THE head which will roll, leaving only the trunk. It would become the public to push for a chain-reaction that would envelop both parties, splintering them into a constellation of political-plurality (not-likely, but we can dream). The ensuing-revelations will keep the GOP out of a majority for decades, just as Herbert Hoover's inaction during the worst-years of the Great Depression did. But even if the GOP 'wins' (what does that mean anymore?), they'll still be fighting-for-their-lives. This can only be good. Most of the last six-years has been unprecedented in our nation's history. Placing most of the GOP in-prison would be too, including the President. This is in-order.

Taking-Responsibility: What About 9/11, Iraq, New Orleans & Illegal-Surveillance?

'Speaker Hastert is a man of integrity,' Rep. Mike Pence voting record, R-Ind.

'I’m finally broken. I’ve been trying to defend the actions of the GOP to myself for years. I’ve voted mainly Republican since I was old enough to vote (although I couldn’t quite bring myself to vote for Bush in 04.) I’ve mainly held out for the GOP for their position on “family issues”. But this scandal (and the decade-long coverup) has broken me. I can’t in honesty defend my position anymore. I’m a Republican at heart, but my party has abandoned the ideals for which they claim to stand. I’m throwing in my lot with the Democrats this election. Maybe by ‘08 the Republicans will get the message.'

WASHINGTON--The Wall Street Journal is reporting comments by congressman Ray LaHood about the Foley scandal, and they are illuminating: "We have to do something different, more dramatic," said Rep. Ray LaHood (R., Ill.). "This is a political mess and what we've done so far is not working [ed.-assuming they would continue to do-the-same if it did work]. Somebody has to take responsibility for this. It is on our watch." (WSJ, 10/04/2006) So, is LaHood saying that there are other congressmen he knows-about who are doing what Foley did? Shouldn't we be applying the same-standards to this affair to the attacks on 9/11/2001? Do you have to ask?

After-all, it was on their 'watch,' but maybe they just couldn't blame old Bill Clinton for it. Responsibility. What a shame Americans have lost this concept--or did we ever have it? Adam Smith was correct about the fact that nations have their time as a dominant economic-power on the world stage. Knowing this, all nations and their leaders should begin realizing that the first truly will be last, eventually. When that time comes, a country doesn't want to have a lot of payback coming to it.

The same applies in our domestic political-arena, and the GOP is quaking because they know what they have done better than anyone. Today, the Washington Post is reporting the comments of a former page who states he was warned in 1995 that Mark Foley was 'someone to steer clear of.' If this allegation is true, we have an ongoing criminal-conspiracy here, a major Federal offense. Most of us on the Left knew the GOP was a criminal-institution all-along.
