Jaenelle Antas: Indiana Libertarian and personal assistant to UK Holocaust denier David Irving

Indianapolis, Indiana--This tip comes to me from a source in Oregon. I don't believe that this is unknown--that Jaenelle Antas is the American assistant to UK Holocaust denier David Irving--but I don't think that many out there in the public know that Antas has also served as Assistant to the Chair of Indiana's Libertarian Party (2007-2008), certainly not within the state itself. Yet, she has.

Antas was spotted and identified in Portland last week for a speaking engagement of Irving's, reputedly even being seen with different clothing on to cloak her identity.

Did the Libertarian Party of Indiana know who she really was when she served as an assistant to State Chair Todd Singer? They have some explaining to do. Some online posts have stated that she was once on the home page of the Libertarian Party of Indiana and was given a college scholarship by them, but it appears that this has all been pulled.

Antas is rumored to post on Storm Front's bulletin-board under the identity of "Tristania," a seemingly Wagnerian name from Teutonic legend, and also a band that she likes within the genre of "metal opera." A look at Antas's Myspace page notes:

And there's more, much more on this account that corroborates who she is. The photos on what appear to be Antas's StormFront account almost certainly have to be the same person as the Myspace account. "Tristania's" fixation on a Wagnerian-moniker is interesting, possibly even adulatory. Yet, Wagner--now incontrovertibly established as a rabid anti-Semite--is missing from her online list of "influences" on the Myspace account, and it appears to be a disingenuous move on her part. Why hide who you really are? Considering the company that she keeps outside of the Libertarian Party of Indiana, it's not hard to understand why.

Is she some form of "Trojan Horse"? The Wagner connection is telling if this is the same individual.

Indeed, as recently as last week, a German scholar has confirmed from the composer's personal correspondence (and of his half-Jewish wife, Cosima, the daughter of Hungarian composer Franz Liszt) once-and-for-all that Wagner was an anti-Semite. For many, this was a forgone conclusion long ago, inside and outside of neo-Nazi and white hate circles.

Letters between German composer Richard Wagner (1813-1883), his wife Cosima and musicians at the Bayreuth opera house showed more consistent anti-Semitism than had previously been known, a music history researcher has said. In a interview with the German Press Agency dpa, music and theatre researcher Stephan Moesch charged that materials showing anti-Jewish attitudes of the Wagner family had been 'glossed over' by the academic community.

The late German historian Joachim Fest, and numerous other musical scholars, cultural historians, and world historians have contended this all along. Fest and many other international historians have contended that Wagner's operas informed Adolph Hitler's own brand of anti-Semitism, and could very likely have inspired the concept of the Holocaust, the wiping-out of European Jewry. Again, for the sake of context, Antas is currently the assistant to the Mosleyite Holocaust denier David Irving.

Fest wrote in his sprawling biography of Hitler:

For the Master of Bayeruth was not only Hitler's great exemplar; he was also the young man's ideological mentor. Wagner's political writings were Hitler's favorite reading, and the sprawling pomposity of his style unmistakably influenced Hitler's own grammar and syntax. Those political writings, together with the operas, form the entire framework of Hitler's ideology: Darwinism and anti-Semitism. ("I hold the Jewish race to be the born enemy of pure humanity and everything noble in man"), the adoration of barbarism and Germanic might, the mystique of blood purification expressed in Parzifal, and the general histrionic view in which good and evil, purity and corruption, rulers and the ruled, stand opposed in black and white contrasts. ...Here he found the "granite foundations" for his view of the world. A reasonably thorough combing of the web shows that Ms. Antas goes to a fair amount of trouble limiting and possibly obscuring her Internet and public presence as well as obviously racist statements. I'm sure she's not the only one to pull her name and photographs off the Internet. She's good, possibly even clever, but that hasn't stopped others from noticing her.

It all fits very nicely: her Myspace page has Libertarian friends--even at this writing--as well as a number of fans of Norwegian metal and the like. That's not a real indicator of a far right connection in itself, but the restraint there speaks volumes. Comments are very carefully worded on "Tristania's" StormFront comments just as they are on the Myspace account, by Antas, and her "friends."

But why would anyone care to use one of the few operas as an online identity in redacted form, a spin-off of the name of a Norwegian metal opera group? Sure, she's probably a fan, but what of the rest here? The strong possibility is that someone told Antas this very interesting fact: Tristan and Isolde was one of the very first operas by Wagner that Adolph Hitler attended, and it was a seminal influence on him that lasted to the very end of his life. It all fits too nicely to be a coincidence. Yes, it appears someone has problems behaving alright.

It is my understanding from the following thread and conversations with my attorney, Mr. Montgomery B. Sibley, that the House Judiciary Committee is interested in the civil asset forfeiture portion of my case. The C Street House: Was GOP Senator David Vitter ever an attendee?

Washington D.C.--The question should be asked: did Louisiana Senator David Vitter, serial-adulterer and whoremonger attend any "prayer" and counseling meetings at the now-notorious C Street House?

Considering the clowns who have already been unmasked, such as South Carolina's Republican Governor Mark Sanford, Sen. John Ensign (R-NV), and their inability to be men and simply resign, it would hardly be surprising. The C Street House hasn't been a total unknown within the beltway, but until the release of "The Family," by Harper's Jeff Sharlett, it was to the general public. Where might Vitter fit into all of this?

Vitter's lack of any real sense of shame or responsibility and his avoidance of accountability ring familiar.

The C Street House itself is allegedly there to "counsel" predominantly Republican politicians about misbehavior and general spiritual matters holding prayer groups, Bible studies, but something more akin to damage control for politicians within their fold. One has to wonder if blackmail is part of the equation. Ostensibly, then, the claim is that the people running the C Street House are attempting to hold these office-holders accountable, which is laughable considering its secrecy.

Yet, perhaps they are in their own minds to further their agendas.

Top Democratic leaders have also had involvement with the generally secret (to the public) prayer ministry, "The Family," who is alleged to run but not own the C Street House. Y.W.A.M. appear to be the owners, but it's still unclear exactly who owns the building.

The group--"Youth With a Mission of Washington D.C." and "The Family"--that owns the C Street House where GOP politicians apparently conspire to hide their sexual and criminal behaviors from everyone has an agenda: theocratic control of the entire world, calling it a "Seven Mountains Mandate," sounding far too much like a reference to the "Seven Hills of Rome," another pagan theocracy populated by degenerate men who avoided accountability at every turn.

What are the "seven mountains" these religious extremists want to conquer? A recently unearthed video shows that they want to control the world from America through infiltration of: business (seen as a key "mountain" to surmount/climb), education, family-units (good luck!), arts and entertainment, government, media, and religion. Pretty nutty, huh? I thought we were fighting religious extremism in the war on terror, yet here we have a homegrown subculture of them within our political and economic system. Who would have thought? Anyone with a pulse.

Funny, but this has all been done before, right? Correct: the Vatican and National Socialism. How's that working out for them today? Seven mountains. Why seven? It's a strange numerological fixation...

When you feel that you're one of God's chosen ones, you feel that you're beyond good and evil. This is the attitude of aristocrats, the main reason for the secrecy and the anti-democratic attitudes going in-and-out of the charnel house on C Street. Vitter is surely part of this subculture, and this writer predicts that he's going to be outed as a member, an associate at-minimum.


Postscript: I should add that in Why Just Her, Montgomery Blair Sibley makes the claim that Senator Vitter and his attorneys at the time threatened the DC Madam with attorney fees (Vitter's, she would have to pay them according to them) around February 25th, 2008. Three days later, Jeane wrote journalist Jason Leopold that, "The bastards aren't taking me alive," and forwarded it to me and my co-researcher. Did Vitter's legal threats push Palfrey to suicide? In my humble opinion, he contributed to it and should be made to pay.

Washington D.C.--I didn't notice this, but Jeffrey A. Taylor resigned as an interim appointed U.S. Attorney on May 28th of this year. Yeah, must have been all that Michael Jackson news...oh yeah, and all that drama in Iran that we're all soon to forget.

But at least we'll never forget all those missing kids.

Occasionally, I get an email from someone "in trouble," and they usually tend to be mistaken or just plain weird or disturbed writers. This weekend, I got a real live one that might, or might not be valid. That said, it was unsolicited, I'm not an attorney, and she wanted her "help," so I'm putting it out there mainly to see whether it's real or not. If it helps, good.

From Ms. Cooley, the entire text of what I assume is a form letter:

July 8, 2009

Dear [Matt Janovic/?]

My name is Michelle Cooley. I am a resident of the city [of] New York. I work for [a] customer support and tech support with a company called Arise. I am a single mother of a 14 year old boy.

These past 5 months I have been dedicated to the discovery process of investigating the parties involved in my late father's probate case. Amongst many possible legal violations -I have found possible elements of fraud, white collar crime, judicial fraud, IRS fraud, RICO Act Violations, and estate fraud. The estate could be worth possibly millions of dollars. My sister, myself, and sub sequentiality[SIC,] my 14 year old son would be the only heirs.

The last week of June, I discovered that the remains of my late father, William Mack Cooley, were missing from the Barrington, Illinios church where he was purportedly laid to rest. I was about to go to the F.B.I. with my information, and the documentation and evidence to back up my discoveries this past week - however impeding my contact with the F.B.I. was “gas leak” in my residence.

Starting on July 2, I was terrified and intimidated by a group of “FDNY” who appeared at my apartment on 2 occasions. I was told on both occasions that my gas had been turned off. I was informed by Con Edison that it had never been turned off. Apart from feeling terribly sick, I was terrified by the behavior of these “FDNY”. I have been a New York resident since 2000 and I have always found the FDNY very amicable and professional. This time however, I was treated with disrespect and contempt.

My life and the life of my 14 year old son were put at risk. Our gas was not turned off for over three days, despite being told that is had been by FDNY personnel. When I decided to go to the hospital to get tested for possible Co2 poisoning I was stopped by a group of amicable NY PD who informed me that someone had called them and told them “a women was passed out on the floor”. I never called the police that night. The NYPD did not seem to be aware of what was going on.

I was put in an Ambulance, and was told by an EMS worker repeatedly that I needed to “take my meds”. She then stayed with me until I was put in the psychiatric ward. She reported to the Doctor at Metropolitan hospital that I was “psychotic”, “suicidal”, “homicidal”, and “playing with the gas pipes.” She also told them I drank “booze”. Thankfully I was seen by a unbiased Psychiatrist at Metropolitan Hospital who released me just an hour later. I insisted on a co2 test, and was told my level was at 0.5.

I have never been diagnosed as psychotic, nor homicidal. I would never hurt anyone or anything.

I have repeatedly tried to find out the names of the FDNY who were dispatched to my apartment. No one at the FDNY, as of yet, will give me any information. I am too afraid for to even return to my apartment after what transpired this weekend. My family is afraid for my our safety as well.

The very people I grew up admiring and believing I could turn to for help – I now fear to call. My son and myself have been traumatized. We are both currently staying away from our home- too afraid to return.

Both my grandfather, and my grandfather worked for the United States Department of Defense.

There are many questions and concerning the events around my later father's death, and the handling of his estate by a the head Probate judge in Washington D.C.

As a citizen of the United States of America, I have a right to investigate the death of my father – and to find out what happened to his remains. My son and I have the right to live without intimidation and harassment.

I have since discovered that a Lt. Duggan was the person who was in charge of dispatching to Con Edison about my gas leak. The gas leak dispatch report was reported three days after the gas leak.

Robert McDonald the head supervisor of gas department was inside my apartment without me being there. I was informed by a Con Edison worker that “supervisors” do not usually go on “gas leak” calls at 1 am in the morning.

I have since learned that Lt. Duggan was in the army. I believe that all the “FDNY” that were dispatched to my apartment were Army reserve or personnel. I do not believe they know the reason that they were called for this “gas leak”.

I would like to inform them, and any anyone else, that I am a kind, caring human being. My son and I object to having been treated like an animals in a gas chamber. I also have the right to go to a hospital to check my physical health, and not be tossed into an ambulance whilst being accused and portrayed to medical personal with absurd accusations of psychiatric problems by FNDY EMS.

My son is an innocent little boy . He has done no harm to anyone.

For the record- I am not suicidal, psychotic, or homicidal. I do not no drugs of any kind. I am a daughter trying to find out what happened to her father. That is not a crime.

I am seeking protection and advocacy from the appropriate agency. We have the right to live our lives with the normalcy we had - before I discovered the possible criminal elements around my late father's case. I am attaching documentation to this letter with the cause of events, and other documentation.

My son and I are truly afraid for our safety at this point in time. We would appreciate any kind of support, advice, or protection..

Pretty incredible claims, right? In another email she sent before this one--the first one--she enclosed the document below with the claim on Icke's b-board page that, "Well I was looking through the court papers of my "bankrupt" father whose probate case is still open in the Washington D.C. probate court... And look whose name is on the paper work for the judge AFTER he's already RESIGNED!!!" (Comment "#13" from the link below)

Yet, there's no real context given. The date on the document is April 6, 2009. Taylor split on May 28. Disinformation? Could be. Does it sound like a bad spy novel? It sure does, hence my suspicions.

A.J. Weberman's Homothug (2008) review

“My books are worth more unsigned.”

In the hot summer of 1991, and in the midst of an unprecedented crime wave, there was a pogrom in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn that has been called “one of the most serious incidents of anti-Semitism in American history.”[i] The pogrom was over an accidental hit-and-run of a black child named Gavin Cato by members of the Lubavitch Community. Within this racially-charged environment, a Hasidic Jew named Yankel Rosenbaum was murdered by a mob of African-American vigilantes spouting anti-Semitic epithets at the victim. This crime--and countless other events in the city at the time--ignited widespread calls for a law and order agenda from City Hall. 

The rioting took place under the administration of African-American mayor David Dinkins who ran on the race card in NYC’s 1989 mayoral elections, and appearances are everything in American politics. 

According to New York State’s Girgenti Report, Mayor Dinkins allowed the riots in Crown Heights to rage for three long days before doing much of anything about it, and his poor record in curbing crime created a backlash that grew over time. Things hadn’t gotten much better by the next election cycle when Dinkins ran against the Republican Rudolph Giuliani, and the perception was that Dinkins was “soft on crime.” At that time the Republican candidate was known for his record as an aggressive prosecuting U.S. Attorney in the Southern District (NYC region)—if he was known for anything at all. But did New Yorkers really know who—or perhaps what--they were voting for in 1993?

Did Rudy play to the outrage? You bet.

Political biographies are a minefield for any author, and especially when the subject is alive-and-kicking, and kicking his perceived enemies is exactly what Rudy Giuliani does best. As a matter of fact, sometimes it appears that it’s all that he does once in office--besides filling key governmental positions with his criminal cronies. First released in May 2008 on Amazon.com, Weberman’s profile of the former mayor of New York City was abruptly pulled by the online seller (who also printed the book through BookSurge) without much explanation, though it can be assumed there were threats regarding defamation of character. That’s rich considering the subject and the people he’s surrounding himself with over the years. According to Weberman, Giuliani’s own attorneys directed legal threats at Amazon.com, causing the removal of the book (still available @ http://yippiemuseum.org/homothug/ ) .

Was it Giuliani? Weberman appears to believe so.

There don’t appear to be any indications otherwise, but there are a few other characters in the narrative besides Giuliani who might have wanted the book pulled like the “defrocked” Monsignor, Alan J. Placa, an individual with a most peculiar attitude towards pedophilia and its relation to society and the law, and there are others who might have wanted the same. Placa handled charges of pedophilia against the Church on Long Island for several years, and doesn’t have a stellar reputation. Nevertheless, it’s safe to assume that Placa and Giuliani are still close friends and associates, if not two men who are stuck with each other thanks to mutual blackmail of some kind. According to Weberman and others, this is probably because Giuliani and Placa have had sexual relations with one another at some point during their youth, and therefore, they share secrets that are a threat to their power. Placa’s powerful? It helps to have powerful friends…

The author quotes Placa himself about his attitudes towards pedophile priests, and they’re not mainstream ones (the emphasis in the quote is Weberman’s):

“In my own experience, attempts to reintegrate people into the ministry have been quite successful. I have never been involved in attempting to reintegrate a clinically diagnosed fixated pedophile [MJ: he’s being very careful in his wording here] into the ministry, however, similarly, I have never been involved in attempting to reintegrate a person into the ministry after that person has been convicted of a criminal offense and has served time in prison. Such a move would be inappropriate, at the very least, for ‘public-relations’ reasons [MJ: the only real time the Church is concerned], if not also for clinical, legal, and moral reasons. With these provisos in mind, I report that my own experience (in many cases over the last six years) leads me to believe that most people who have engaged in the sort of inappropriate behavior we are describing here can successfully be reintegrated into some useful and fulfilling Church ministry…” [ii]

Yet, as Weberman points-out, and as anyone with any sense knows, you cannot reform a pedophile, making Placa’s written statements not only disingenuous, but bald lies that one would expect to come from a pedophile. For this reason and many others laid-out in the text, Placa has a very important place in Giuliani’s life and in the development of his character and his behavior. The author treats the other players in similar fashion since this is a study of a man’s character and how he came to have it. Assuming that Giuliani has character might be taking a wild leap of logic. 

Logically, Weberman also delves a little into the effects of heredity on sexual tendencies as well as the general effects of environment on Giuliani. Rudy’s father Harold was a convicted exhibitionist, a violent malcontent who consorted with other street criminals, and was a low-level organized crime soldier. What went on in the Giuliani home in front of little Rudy? We’re not entirely sure, but if you grow-up in a milieu of sexual depravity, violence, and organized crime, there’s a good chance you’re going to act in similar fashion later on. It appears that this has been the case throughout Rudolph Giuliani’s sordid adult life.

Certainly, some members of the gay community are going to be offended by the title of this chronicle, but it has a very real urban basis to it, and Weberman didn’t coin the term, nor is he claiming to have. If even a fraction of what he and the Yippie Museum research team have uncovered is true, the term fits, especially looking at the smoke coming from Giuliani’s father, his own official behaviors as a prosecutor and Mayor of NYC, and his other questionable associations. 

In short, he seems to fit most of the definitions of an urban “homothug”:

5. homo thug

A male thug who has [a] sexual interest in both males and females. Lives an ag[g]ressive lifestyle ( a well known result of hood life), mentally unstable (most of the time) and can claim to be of heter[o]sexual orientation (or not); mainta[n]ing a reputation that can be associated with the life of urban minority men (aka thugs) in and around predominantly black neighborhoods (unless they are a celebrity). All the while attempting to remain the alpha male in people's perception of him, therefore having to sustain the life of a straight male, with only or mainly heter[o]sexual intents to be accepted into society without consid[e]ration.

"Tyshawn" is your typical average thug. He's flippin' weight in the hood, got a clique with niggas that don't give Shit about much. On the block all night, having sexual leasions with chicks and even has a 4 year old son. Nigga dresses fly, got a fly ride and is known by people who otherwise would more likely than not, be associated with a homo Thug. Tyshawn has a relationship with a pre-op tran[s]sexual("Tania") who passes quite well and looks and maintains herself better than a lot of females. She herself is also "notorious" in the hood (for her own reasons). "Tyshawn" and "Tania" have a sexual relationship period[i]cally but consistent. And all the while these sexual rendezvous occur[r]ing on the DL [MJ—“on the down low.”] with no knowledge of his actions amongst his family or his crew. [iii]

Giuliani’s social interactions have been described by former NYC Mayor Ed Koch in his contemporary columns as being like “Frankenstein’s” monster. Koch was hardly alone in his use of this word in describing Giuliani’s governing practices, this one coming from Former Deputy Police Commissioner John Miller:

"Frankenstein's monster was a misunderstood character [that] reached out to people and frightened them and they ran away. I don't think the mayor has made that much of an effort. He just kind of frightens them away without reaching them at all."

Miller, a former television newsman, said, "When a police department becomes politicized because it's being run by a shadow police commissioner who is the mayor, you have to question as to whether the department is acting based on what is right and what is lawful or whether the department has become a political arm."[iv]

Did they even know the half of it? Maybe…and maybe not.

Interestingly, the author spends the first one hundred pages of his profile of Giuliani by focusing on his lifelong relationship with Alan Placa and the former Monsignor’s very curious background and tendency to protect pedophile priests. According to Weberman and several sources, were it not for the statute of limitations (and very conscious legal motions by him in several other cases so that it would expire), Alan Placa would be a convicted pedophile. Looking at his sources, he makes more than a good case for it. Worse still, Placa might have been involved in negligence with a victim of a pedophile priest, perhaps leading them into a situation where their suicide was all-but-inevitable. The overall picture of Placa is not only bad, and if even a smidgen of it is true, he’s a dangerous criminal degenerate and a threat to the community no matter where he lives. 

So why hasn’t he run for public office yet?

As a matter of fact, it appears that Alan Placa’s pedophilia is very real and the author cites Suffolk County grand jury proceedings as well as his own interviews with one of the alleged victims of Placa, one Richard Tollner, to support the contention. Tollner’s accounts of molestation jibe with other parts of the public record in so many areas that one has to assume the only reason the former Monsignor is still walking around a free man is because he has friends in high places, such as Giuliani and the Church itself. The main problem for Tollner—and other victims of Placa and his network of pedophiles—has been the statute of limitations, which Placa used as a lawyer (a role he hid from the victims and their families, not to mention the authorities on many occasions).

Yet, Giuliani has been zealous and consistent in defending his lifelong friend, often referring to him as an asset to the community. Is Placa blackmailing him? It’s a good question, and we should remember that there’s no honor among thieves and criminals, generally. It’s even money that Placa got a lot of practice in this area of dodging the law through his little game of protecting himself and other pedophile priests and clerics from accountability. Yet, Giuliani calls him a “friend.” Sometimes, “friends-for-life” takes on a different meaning, a dark one.

Consorting with know criminals and the corrupt, ruling with brutality and an iron fist, and ignoring the law while claiming to uphold it was all part and parcel of “Giuliani time.” To truly know someone, you must judge them by their actions, not merely by what they say. Weberman’s approach to Giuliani is that it’s all about character, a perspective that he shares about the troubled mayor with former NYC mayor Ed Koch, and he’s right in doing it. The man’s background and the people he surrounds himself with suggest that Rudolph Giuliani is a criminal, if not an unimaginably compromised individual, and that he is a fool who’s simply useful to the establishment and the criminal underworld. It’s hard to say what’s worse.

When held against the authoritarian mayoral record of the Giuliani years, the author’s text comes off like a very professional police dossier and will likely become a part of the permanent historical record regardless of the tactics unleashed to suppress it. It is thoroughly researched, indexed, and footnoted, and the author draws on the public record while adding primary sources of his own from interviews with various players in the narrative, like the inimitable FBI informant and City Hall “fixer”, Larry Ray. In other words, Homothug isn’t just some second hand retelling, but a part of the primary record. It’s a chronicling, if you will, of what genuine corruption looks like, how it behaves, and it wisely delves into where it comes from. The sad truth is that it comes from social injustice, that gift that keeps on giving. 

There’s a genuine yearning on Weberman’s part to try to understand why Giuliani and the people he’s surrounded himself with over the years are such irredeemable scumbags, and that’s being charitable referring to them as such here or anywhere. True, there are pointed and personal jibes in the text, but they are well-earned ones considering the targets involved. 

Many of Giuliani’s lieutenants were and are—in fact—career criminals with mafia connections and a skill for gaming the system, even on Wall Street. As Weberman notes, Giuliani himself grew up in an organized crime milieu, and his own father was a low–level mafia soldier as well as a general sociopath. But to Rudolph Giuliani, acute moral degeneracy appears to be that credential for being one of his “wiseguys,” making it a reminder to all that our political system is based on mutual blackmailing, more often than not. That’s not just an epitaph for New York City and Giuliani; it’s one for a very troubled American polity trying to find its way back to the light, and a flimsy sentimentalism isn’t going to fix things.

Perhaps former Mayor Dinkins was “soft on crime,” and there are good arguments for it (according to Weberman and others, Giuliani is “soft” in other areas these days after prostate surgery). But: was Giuliani a better alternative? It depends on who you are. If you’re part of the economic establishment, sadistic lower-level police officers, corrupt cronies, and organized crime, “Giuliani time” was a trip back to Eden and the joys of crony machine politics. Rudy had all their backs, but he didn’t have the backs of the people of New York City. 

Having run one of the most worst presidential campaigns in American history in 2008 wasn’t the only thing that sank his monomaniacal ambitions: It was the intuition of the American public that not only was Giuliani an uninspiring demagogue who used the events of September 11, 2001 to his political advantage, but that he was also corrupt, thanks-in-part to the scandals surrounding people who were close to him. The most familiar name would be Bernard Kerik, when the corruption-ridden Bush II administration chose him to head the Department of Homeland Security. As Weberman makes clear, Kerik was just the tip of the iceberg in the life of a very pathetic, deluded, and crazed individual who should have never held public office.

Homothug will be part of the epitaph of a very sick and deluded individual who should have never held public office. Therefore, it’s also an epitaph for the times he came up in.
